Hi all -
Just returned from the WL and I have to say we really enjoyed it.
After a really rough check-in and first day the rest of the stay was really great.

*Check-in*
We booked 2 Woodview Rms, and rqst 2 non-smoking rooms, 1 with bunks for DW, DD3, DD6 and me and 1 w/2 queens for Papa/Nana (celebrating 38th anniv) and rqst to be up high on north side near otter pond (hoping to see castle and fireworks). When we arrived at ~3pm on Sat the CM (linda) told us the resort was booked solid, no bunks avail, north side was full. :sad2: I'm a bit steamed. Anyway, she checks us in giving us rm 4010 and prints 6 keys. I ask what's the other room we have and she doesn't know and goes to get help. After coming back Nana/Papa get 4012 (at least we have adjoining rooms). I ask about being a flag family - sorry all booked up. :sad1: She asks for a CC, I give her mine and she adds it. Papa/Nana ask to put on a separate CC for their room, she says we can't. DW, DD3, DD6 and I head to the room while Nana/Papa decide to ask for a supervisor to see about separate CCs. 4010 ends up having 2 Q beds and it's on the Northside (over otter pond) and we can see the monorail and slightly the castle. I'm a bit less steamed. Nana/Papa come back after successfully getting a separate CC for their room 4012. Turns out 4012 has bunks. I'm feeling a bit better, maybe we can switch rooms. We go back to front desk and ask to change rooms. Linda is the only one available again - she says just trade keys. But if we do that we have each others CCs. We ask for a supervisor, (Mark?) who is awesome and comes out and successfully trades rooms, prints new keys and even adds us to the Flag family wait list. We are set after spending like 1hr at the front desk. Though all week they think me and DW are in 4010 and Nana/Papa are in 4012.
They even send a bunch of balloons and pics or Minnie/Mickey to my room saying happy anniv to DW and me.

*We Go Shop*
Another pain was WeGoShop, we had ordered and scheduled a delivery at 7:30. Figuring we'd get through our dinner resv at Wispering Canyon at 6pm just in time. They call and say their running late, the delivery will be at 9. They ask us to go to front desk and authorize them to charge to our room. We do. From 8:45-9:30 I wait in the lobby and no one shows. We call and get the answering machine. I go to bed. At 11:30pm front desk calls and says we got a delivery. I'll get it in the morning forgetting the milk, yogurt and cream cheese in the order. In the morning I go get it and happily the front desk refridgerated it. But we're missing 2 cases of water a bag of popcorn and we have a 2nd large box of cereal we didn't want. We call, it'll be here this morning. We go to parks come back at 4, no water or popcorn, we call they apologize again it'll be here tomorrow (day 3) will only refund half of delivery charge. It finally comes day 3. We won't use them again.

*4010,4012*
These rooms were great - not only did they connect but we could see the monorail, castle at night and Wishes fireworks through the trees from our room (Pics to come). On MNSSHP nights the fireworks go over the trees and can be clearly seen. The rooms were far down on the northside so they were nice and quiet. They were on the way to the Roaring Fork for quick mug refills and rm 4010 even has a hidden mickey on the balcony post.

*Towel Animals*
The maid (Buon) was the best! We got 6 towel animals which the kids loved! A ghost, mouse, chicken, rabbit, ???, and huge alligator! I asked front desk if we could take them and they said if they just happen to sneak into your suitcase somehow - oh well - we left the alligator but took the rest.

*WL*
The location of the WL is great for MK visits, I'd say it was ~2min ride by bus (once the bus arrived). We took the boat the first day, but found the busses much faster (and they have A/C). This was great b/c we went to MK on 4 of 7 days. Going to AK or DTD was another story, the busses were much slower, it literally took us over 20mins to get to AK. Epcot/MGM were probably like ~12 mins (not bad).

*Pool*
WL Pools were awesome, the Hidden Pool and HT in the Villas was very nice too. We were wading late one night heard the ELP at 9:45 pm. It was great. (we could see part it from the room too!).

Can't say enough good things about this place. We'll be going back despite our check-in issues. Hopefully next time we get to raise the flags.
I'd be happy answer any questions about the Lodge if anyone has any.

Glad you had a good time despite your check-in issues . . . .

DH and I will be there tomorrow (our first adult only trip). The last time we stayed at WL it was 2003 and I cannot remember one thing, if you can help me . . .The boats . . .does one stop at the Contemporary? We have 8:20 ressies tomorrow night at California Grill and I was wondering if we could get directly there by taking one of the boats or will we have to catch a bus?

Thanks! :sunny:

I am glad that you got your magical vacation in the end despite some early issues.

Glad you had a good time-we(dh and 2 dd's were there 9/26-10/04) and really liked it.
Did your DD's like going over the bridge in the lobby? That was the highlight of my dd2 every time we went through the lobby :rotfl: .
She would dart out of the elevator, scream "bubbles" and run over the bridge.

We were in 6119. WE originally had 2169-way at the end of the wing- and after I walked that twice with dd2 I asked if they could swith us either closer to the lobby or an elevator. They were very accomodating and switched us. The 1st time for us at WL and we will definitely stay there again.
You are right on the money about the buses and wait time. Several times we waited more than 20 mins. for a bus-especially if it was DTD-and then you have to stop and pick up at GF and stop at typhoon lagoon before getting dropped at DTD. That trip it took 40 mins. each way.
DD15 and I were flag family on our last day and even though it had rained and more rain was to come the ranger still took us up for the view. He just cautioned us several times to be careful on the steps. They don't raise the flag when there is expected showers and wind. It was an awesome view :cloud9: :, to say the least.
Day of check-out I noticed on our express checkout that we had been charged for 2 days of valet. Which is impossible since we used magical express. I took it to the front desk and they removed it from my cc. While I was at the front desk another person had been charged for valet also.

Wish upon a star-there is a boat that runs to the Contemp.-we took it several times. Enjoy your trip :wave2:

Tell Papa/Nana Happy Anniv. :cheer2: I saw several anniv. families/groups. They were wearing t-shirts. Was your family one of them? I hope DH and I make it to 38-we are on 17 and it gets better every year.

Yes at the dock the larger boat with the cabin goes to MK and there are 2 smaller boats with just a blue canvas roof circling the lake. One goes Contempry->FW->WL the other circles Cntmpry->WL->FW. We ate at Chef Mickey's (had a 5pm res) and were running late so we called a cab on the way there - for 6 people it cost $5.50 and we were there in like 2 mins. On the way back we took the boat - it was a nice relaxing ride home.

If you take a bus I think you'd have to go to either the transportation center or MK and grab another bus or monorail. (much quicker by cab or boat)

Enjoy your stay!

Funny you should ask, my DD3 loved it but we went over it while she was in the stroller we brought. For some reason the first time she did it, after returning from the MK, she put her hands up like it was a roller coaster or something and gave out a giant squeal. So we did it all the time on the way to and from the bus - each time the hands would go up.

DD6 loved hitting the cowbells on the way to the bus too. Laughingly, mimicing the funny SNL skit on BOC with Peter Walken I said "I need more cow bell". Every time we went by she asked, "Do you need more cowbell dad?" I said yes each time and we had a laugh as she ran to the cow bells.

Will do - no they we'ren't wearing any shirts or anything to attract attention - Papa is especially shy about telling people. Though they went to V&A and spent ~$450 on dinner where they announced their anniv infront of everyone. I guess after 38 yrs the dinners get more expensive. I'm on 10 myself - I better start saving for that dinner incase we make it.

We will be at the WL for #21 anniversary - but thinking of Cindy's dinner for our anniversary with our DS teen and DD tween.

Our kids out grow the view of fireworks from our window after the 2nd night (got fireworks views twice before at other deluxes).

We opted for a courtyard view and hoping for bunkbeds - no way will our kids sleep in the same bed- nor us with them. My DS is my height and wears shoes bigger than mine :)

We thought the WL would be a nive change - a bit away from the Parks, yet close enough to MK (but EPCOT is also a favorite, with Studio's and AK following).

Sorry to hear of the room mix ups - but at least WL was able to accomodate - being polite and persistant is the way to go :cool1:

In stead of wegoshop - we do the 30 min food store stop with the car service (FL tours or whomever), We buy what WE want and need. No waiting for a food service to deliver. If we need milk the snack bar or gift shops always seem to have it. Plus no delivery fee

Happy Anniversary to all ;)
