Just got back this morning (just in time for the snow tomorrow). Weather was wonderful and the decorations were beautiful. Had lots of fun. Met Dan Murphy, Ray Sharpton and a few others at the Boardwalk. Wish I had paid more attention to the boards before leaving so I would have known about all the meets. Would have loved to have met up with Katholyn. he best part about my trip was that I stayed low-carb. The only thing I had that I shouldn't have was some popcorn. Should have had more water too but was very pleased with myself for not giving in to some of the other treats in WDW. I will weigh myself in the morning to see how I really did. Hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving!

Welcome back, sounds like a terrific trip! Would you share some of the places you ate and what you had? I am leaving soon and plan to stay on track as best I can and would love some suggestions! Did you have any sugar free desserts anywhere? Thanks :)

Welcome back and congratulations for doing so well at WDW! :sunny:

JessicaR ~ There is sugar free chocolate mousse at the bakery in Norway in Epcot (and it's very good). Also sugar free cheescake in the FW section in Epcot..can never remember the name of the 'breakfast' counter service place, sorry. And I believe the bakery on the Boardwalk has SF cheescake also.

I would love to hear about your lc eating at WDW too. I don't go again until June, but I am already trying to figure out where we can eat and what I can have and enjoy. Part of the fun of a Disney trip for me is eating in all my favorite places. I'd like to think I can still do that but somehow eat low carb or good carb as the case may be. Thanks for sharing!

ibouncetoo,

Thanks! I am making a list and taking it with me and just added these. Like you, ZerasPride, my trips have been around my favorite eating places...I cant wait to see if I can be good. If I can find some yummy treats I know I can be satisfied! I think the "food" part will be easy its the desserts that tempt me!::yes::

I ate at counter service places. Ordered a hot dog and just didn't eat the roll, or a bacon cheeseburger without the roll and added some lettuce and tomatoe. Also, had a cheeseburger and salad at the Grand Floridian. I was lucky that I was staying in a villa and was able to eat breakfast in the room and also lunch or dinner. There were a few times when I really wanted a mickey bar or a churro but I decided I would wait an hour and if I still wanted it I would get it. Usually I just forgot about it. I just figured that I had worked too hard over the past 6months to blow it in 1 short week. I have chosen to be a low carb eater for life so I just have to learn to deal with challenging situations.

Thanks for letting us know your strategy. I feel the same way as you. I am not going through all these life-altering experiences to blow it over 1 week, even if it is for yummy Disney food! Atkins and South Beach are pretty similar and like you, I view this as a way of life – not a diet that I can just cast off or forget about for a week. My biggest fear is if I cheat for a week, I’d never come back to this way of life. I’m grateful that I have six months of getting this way of life down before I go on my trip.

You said you stayed in a villa. Are you a DVC member? I am and it’s great to be able to prepare meals in your room. I guess I’ll really be taking advantage of the grocery stop the towncar services offer to stock up on things I can make for me and DH in our room.

Congratulations for sticking to your way of life while on vacation. I know that’s not an easy thing to do and you should be so proud of yourself!

JessicaR – I’m not sure which might do me in, the treats or the actual food. I keep thinking about the buffet at Crystal Palace. They had some of the best food that we had on our trip this past August. Mentally, I keep thinking about the legal items I know I can enjoy and not about the carb-laden stuff I should stay away from.

Lisa,
I found buffets to work really well for me in doing Atkins. The trick, of course, is to fill up on meat and veggies/salad. You just have to be strong if the dessert table tempts you. I was celebrating my birthday the week we were there, and did have a couple of planned 'indulgences' in the form of chocolate! I did really well passing up the 'starches' and all that walking really helped. Remember to guzzle down lots of water, which is one of the things you'll want to pick up at your grocery stop. We also kept hardboiled eggs and cheese in our fridge.....I find that an egg and ounce of cheese in the morning really keep me satisfied for a long time.
