Hi all, just got back last weekend from our month long trip which included NY, Miami, Universal and of course 2 weeks WDW. Wonderful trip, very sad to be back.

Won't bore people with a trip report, but happy to answer any questions people may have. A few points of the top of my head:

- NY - If we could only live there for a while !! Ate our way across manhattan. Georgeous place, loved it.

- Key West - swimming with Dolphins and Sea Lions, amazing experience.

- Universal Harry Potter expansion is a wonderful addition, I suggest not looking at too much info before you go, so you dont spoil the suprises on the rides.

- Unversal Horror Nights - WOW, if you are into being scared and fan of Walking Dead, must see.

- Fast passes + , ups and downs, good to have things in place for later afternoon visits, but does restrict you doing multiple rides, we found that stand by lines seemed a lot longer than previous years. And having to use your mobile constantly to check times, takes away from some of the enjoyment of the parks. Overall not major probs though.

- Mine Train Ride - great addition to MK, the whole pre and post ride are great.

- Sim Cards - best option is to go to AT&T when you arrive or soon after. no mucking about, costs $65 for the entire month, activated straight away.

- EPCOT food and wine - loved it, fantastic, visited 3 times overall, ate our way around the world multiple times.

Well, i am sure other things will come up if people are interested. Might be our last long trip for a while, due to kids doing VCE next few years, which is extra depressing. Not sure how I will cope!! :worried:

Argh, I know how you feel, DH and I went for the first time in March/April (honeymoon) and was immediately depressed about not being there... daydreaming about moving to Orlando (and begging Pete Werner for a job at Dreams Unlimited!!) I think about it almost constantly!!

We were playing with the idea of going in 2015, add on trip to a Fiji trip we are taking for a friend's wedding, but then a second international wedding popped up (first in April, then in Aug) in Bali (no desire to visit at all!!)
So now... looking at 2016... which feels SOOOOO far away :( and DH wants to go March/April again so we can go to Wrestlemania again, but I desperately want to go in September. the dilemmas!!

Maybe a graduation trip when VCE is over? they'll need it!!

Welcome back!

Sounds like a fantastic trip. I agree, a big graduation trip sounds like a plan :thumbsup2

Welcome back!

You make me all the more excited about our upcoming trip! Where did you stay in Orlando?

Welcome back, Marvel. Glad you had a great trip. Sorry you feel seriously depressed.

But we all know the cure, right?

When's the next trip? Even if it's a couple of years off, you can start saving and planning....right?

Ugh!!! Post holiday blues sooo depressing .... Memories for a lifetime though and it sounds like you had an amazing time.

Have to agree the only way to get over it is to plan another now matter how long it takes :thumbsup2

I know exactly how you feel, it sux big time coming home from a holiday.

Sounds like you had a great trip though, where did you stay in New York?

Hi all, another trip to plan would help, hard to work out at the moment.

Graduation sounds good, but my DS will be into VCE when DD finishes. Maybe a trip during DEC/JAN 2015 which we have never done, the weather and crowds scare me off this period and the extra expense.

In NY we stayed at the Affinia Dumont which we love, our third time there. The rooms are suites pretty much, with kitchen, full size fridge, and extra bed in the living area, which we need as the kids dont share beds anymore! Really love this hotel, walking distance to pretty much everywhere, and subway right nearby. But away from the madness of Times Square.

In orlando we stayed at the Sheraton Vistana, which was great as well. Two bedroom suite, full kitchen, two bathrooms, short drive to parks and $135 per night, I still cannot get over the rate. Cheaper than staying in our own home! Could easily stay there a few months.

I feel bad that we wont get to DL next year for the 60th Celebrations since we were there for the 50th.

We have thought about moving to the US constantly, even went into the Green Card lottery a few years ago. Even going into Woollworths, makes me sad that it's not a Wholefoods. :sad2:

We are at the Sheraton Vistana at the moment and loving it, so spacious and a relaxing haven to come back to after busy days.

It is depressing being back.

I am trying to find joy at present from looking (and relooking) at all my trip photos. :)

Even though I am still suffering financially from the holiday I am eagerly starting the plans for the next one. DH wants to do a US cruise for 14 nights without the kids but I dont think I could be away from them that long or that far away(pathetic, I know). so we are looking at maybe a cruise locally, then 2016 another big holiday and just take the boys, the girls will be 17 and 16 by then and doing HSC so that is a good excuse to leave them behind.

But all these ideas and options are helping with the post holiday blues:)

Our kids would go crazy if we went without them whilst they are studying. 2016 seems so far away though, although a good idea to think ahead. It hurts seeing the $1100 airfares being advertised !!

hey Caroline, if you have are after super cheap breakfast, but better than Denny's :crazy2: try the Perkins down the road from the Vistana, or for a bit of a drive the Cracker Barrel.
