Just back from the Wyndham Palms Resort & Country Club -- any ???'s

There's another thread with the name changes and some of the confusion regarding the name.

There is some information if you go to the Wyndham hotels website and search for Lake Buena Vista. The resort also has it's own website at www.thepalmsresort.com.

yyoung1,

they have down pillows if you request them through your preferences on your Wyndham by Request membership. We received 3 of them stacked up on the master bedroom bed. I did not seen anything under preferences about down comforters.

The closest Publix is about 6 miles away. Coming out of the resort you take a left on Old Lake Wilson Rd. At the redlight for Hwy 192 West, take a left & Publix is down about another 3 miles on the right hand side of the rd in a little shopping center.

The shuttle service is for around the resort. There was no information for shuttle service to the parks in my welcome paperwork so I do not believe they offer it.

In the 2nd bedroom they are supposed to be double beds. My bed is a queen bed at home & the ones that were in our villa seemed to be the same size as mine at home. The master has a King size.

The Jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom may hold 2 people depending on the size of the people, it is sort of triangular shaped like it could hold 2 people. It is somewhat larger than the garden tubs I have in the bathrooms in my home.

luvflorida,

here's 2 different websites to view the resort:

http://www.thepalmsresort.com/visitors.htm

http://www.wyndham.com/hotels/MCOTP/guestrooms/main.wnt

The resort is located off of Hwy 192 W then about 3 miles down Old Lake Wilson Rd almost directly across from the World of Orchids or something like that. The resort on the grounds of the Mystic Dunes Golf and Country Club.

We loved the garden tubs at the end of the day....dh used it just about every night. We both did fit into the tub at the same time. I took plenty of photos, but now I just need to scan it.

cinamin27,

When were you there, we just must have missed one another. I got there on the 2-28 and left on 3-7. We were on the second floor in building 24 then we got a lock off room in building 18 second floor. I luuuuved the hotel also.

cinamin27- Thanks for the trip report. I'm glad you had a wonderful time.
:D

dtauer and cinamin27

Thanks so much for the website info. It didn't even occur to me to check if they had a website under their own name!:D

Hi Cinny

Thank you for the ticket info. I just found out yesterday that my company is a member of the Universal Fan Club and they gave me a card for it. I will check out the website.

Thank you so much for your response and great information, Cinny!

When I called to confirm my reservations, they asked if I had a preference of which building. You said you liked Building 10 the best? I am going with my husband and parents and brother. A nice view would be cool.

Are they outside corridors where you park your car right outside your room or do you actually go inside a hotel like lobby?

Thanks again!

just wondering if you remember if there was a blender in the kitchen?.......i'll pack it if i need to, but was hoping there is one.......thanks.

yyoung1,

They are set up more or less like apartment buildings where there are walkways on each floor across the front of the building that lead to your front door. You do not have villas behind you. There seemed to be plenty of convenient parking in front of the building I stayed in. Building 10 does seem to be the best because the waterfall is right behind that building & it seems to be the closest to the main pool.

littleducksmom,

I do not remember a blender. I *do* remember a 2 slice toaster & a coffee pot on 1 counter & if I remember correctly the other counter just had (empty) salt & pepper shakers & potholders & dish towels on it.

bump for ftmeyersgirl to check out the info

Just got to the end of the post and viola there you were! Thanks for bumping this.

I checked out the rate and it was around 89.00. Sounds almost too good to be true.

The Wyndham Palms is now called Windsor Palms because of copyright on the name I think?

We stayed in a villa in Windsor Palms last October and loved it so much have booked the same villa for this October.

Kazzie,

I am glad you liked the Whydham Palms. I did book it for my May trip because it was the most reasonable and newest 2 bedroom condo I could find and highly recommended by all who stayed there particularly cinny.

Do you know anything about the children's pool area. Was it a zero pool?

I had read another post that said there was some copyright infringment issues involved which led to a name change. This is not so, as far as I can tell. The place I booked is still called the Whydam Palms in fact, if you go to the Whydam Hotels website, it is listed there as one of their properties.

I am wondering what the confusion is with the name.

I have so much research yet to do since I am planning a trip to the Disney Hilton Head in April, the trip to Disney World in May and the one in December so I cannot get to the bottom of the Windsor/Whydham issue. The place I booked was on kingdom.com and it was called Whydham. I am curious though and after I am done I will find out why the confusion.

Thank you for the feedback.

Kazzie,

Wyndham Palms Resort & Country Club has *not* been renamed Windsor Palms. It has been taken over by Wyndham from Tempus. The Wyndham Palms is listed on Wyndham's website under resorts. The Wyhdham by Request program was just adopted alittle over a month ago at this resort according to the Wyndham by Request manager at the Wyndham Palms Resort & CC.

You can search for the resprt on the Wyndhams website using this link:
http://www.wyndham.com/locator/resorts/main.wnt

I believe the Windsor Palms is a COMPLETE different property.

Thanks for that:rolleyes:

I had no idea that the old name for the Windsor Palms is now the new name for a very similiar resort, very confusing:confused:

It was bad enough that people often confused the Wyndham hotel and spa in Lake Buena Vista with Windsor (formerly Wyndham!) Palms.I guess the Wyndham company wanted the name not just for copyright but they had it in mind to use on one of their properties?

So I have stayed in Windsor Palms! The Wyndham Plams resort sounds really lovely from what I've been reading too:cool:

I just got back lastnight from this resort. Very nice. I will post my report later...

Just a quick message to say YES there is a zero pool entry. I don't know if the main pool has this but the pool by our condo had zero entry.. VERY NICE for a 20 month old..

Looking forward to reading your trip report. Can you also post a message here indicating that your trip report was posted and on which board.

Do they clean the rooms at the resort?

No they do not unless you pay a fee. It is something like this 35.00 for 1 bedroom 40.00 for 2 bedroom and I don't remember what it was for 3 bedroom. We choose to keep it clean ourselves and washed our own towels..

I will post it here later tonight when I get more time.

Oh, did you have a free continental breakfast? Did you do the timeshare talk? How did the resort compare to other places you have stayed in Orlando? Did you join Wyndham by Request and get your freebies? How far was the pool to walk to?

We are going in October and I had an awful dream about the hotel last night. We had to walk to it with all our luggage up a dusty road, etc..

We never made it to the free breakfast because we bought our own groceries. We went to the parks as soon as they opened and stayed until they closed.

My first impression was this place was very nice and CLEAN. Beds were soft and they gave us plenty of towels. We didn't join the Request. However they did give us a choice of pepsi when we checked in.

At first I was disappointed about our location. We were in building 20 with a view of hole 8 and a swampy area. I loved our location by the end of the trip. We had a lock off unit so our room was very big. We really enjoyed the view because we got to hear the crickets and frogs all night long. It was very relaxing. Plus our pool was right across the parking lot from us. This pool was zero entry which was wonderful because we have a 20 month old.

DH played golf twice and they only charged him 75.00 for one round and 45.00 for the next. Much cheaper than we anticipated! We were never approached for a timeshare presentation.

We never made it to the main pool. Disney was right around the corner. Over all we enjoyed our stay tremendously. I would recommend this place to anyone.!!

My only complaint was we could hear the people upstairs from us when they checked in. It was very loud. However, they were quiet the rest of the week. If I were you I would try to get something on the 4th floor.
