This was a last minute decision for my son's Spring Break. We've had such an AWFUL year we thought we'd just run away!

The decision to stay onsite at Universal is a MUST, the front of the line perk is too good to pass up. I got a buy 3 get one free day on www.hotelkingdom.com which made it more affordable. Then I needed a room for two nights before I checked in. I got the Wyndham for $38 a night on Priceline just a few days before! :teeth:

The Wyndham was WAY better than I thought it would be. What a DEAL for $38! Clean, beautiful grounds, lovely room, it was a very nice hotel for the price.

Of course, the Royal Pacific made it look like a ghetto!!

The second day after I got to the RPH I had a BAD accident on the boat dock. I fell headfirst on concrete and literally busted my head open. The Universal EMTs came to my rescue and not to mention two wonderful ladies who were on vacation also, who happened to be registered nurses from my town of Atlanta! :earseek:

I spent the night at the ER but the catscan revealed I was going to live...

The next three days the RPR treated me like ROYALTY! I was picked up by the hotel from the hospital, transported to my room in a wheelchair and they even catered food for us! WOW!

The Resort manager asked me to call him the next day. When I called they transferred me to his HOME! He was so concerned about me and wanted to make sure I was okay. The accident was no fault of theirs, it was mine only, I just missed a step while trying to make my water taxi.

Needless to say I had a very memorable week in Orlando! It was a great trip, though, despite my mishap.

What to do now? Making plans to go back! :teeth:

I'm glad you're okay.:D I hope you are feeling 100% soon.

We are seriously thinking of booking a suite at RPR for our trip next October. Everyone I have talked to at the resort has been SO friendly.

I know you responded to one of my other posts but if you can think of any other details you would like to share I'd love to hear anything and everything about the resort, the room, the food, the activities, etc.

Thanks

Heard about your accident on the US forum, Robin. Glad to hear you're OK and you had a good time, but a bit of a drastic measure to elicit the VIP treatment from RPH, I'd say! ;)

We're looking forward to our first stay at PBH next month. We visited RPH last October during our stay at HRH and it's a beautiful resort. We've got a reservation for Tchoup Chop and we can't wait.

Goodness Robin--my thoughts and prayers will continue to be with you. I know this hasn't been the easiest year you've experienced. Just saw your post on the Windham Palms rental--glad you have that to look forward to!

Thanks, everyone. Yes, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger... if this is true I should be SUPERMAN! :teeth:

UKDEB, I'll be at the Portofino next month also! While at the RPR, my son said, next time PORTOFINO! I asked him if HE intended to pay for it!

Well, after getting home and realizing we really didn't have much of a holiday I booked the Windsor townhouse for a week and added PBH to the end! Michael will be out of school and believe it or not, a trip costs LESS than summer camp!

This time I promise to watch where I'm going!

I didn't get a chance to try Tchoup Chop this time even though I passed it everytime on the way to the water taxi. I got a menu and called for a pick up but they didn't do that! :( They had my favorite, shrimp fried rice for only $5.00! I didn't feel like going there all beat up and in a wheelchair, so I'll have to wait until next time.

floridafam: I can't say enough about the RPR. THE most comfortable hotel I've ever experienced. You can actually feel it! The staff is the nicest group of people you'll ever meet. Not syrupy sweet, just genuinely nice! When they smile at you, you feel like they MEAN it! There are 1000 rooms at that resort and everytime someone saw us, they called us by name and remembered us. I don't know if it was just ME, but it made us feel so special.

The beds were so comfortable I went out yesterday to find a mattress to match the one I had there! I also injured my hip in my infamous fall and even realize it till I got home and slept on my old mattress! The one I bought made me feel like I was back there!

When will you be at PBH? We will be there May 22 through 25.
