I like to think of the Poly as a little slice of heaven on earth. The resort is beautiful. Just like we remebered it from 4 years ago. We were in Tokelau #3943. I requested that building on the 3rd floor with a room overlooking the quiet pool. I got it all. The room was immaculate. The building, the hallways, the room, all smelled great. Not like I read previously from other guests. We checked in with Sandi. She was pleasant, informative and very welcoming. She gave us all a lei and said Aloha. In fact, every CM we passed our entire trip said Aloha. The pools were great. They are heated. The fireworks at night and the boat parade were great. The beach was clean and relaxing. There were hammocks and swinging benches. We ate at Captain Cooks for light meals and snacks. Ohana's was very good. We went on Wednesday. Not very crowded so we asked for a window seat. The food was good and hot and plentiful. They did hula hoop contests and coconut races. We love the Poly and will definately go back again. Sooner than later I hope.

We have had two wonderful stays at the Poly and one was also in Tokelau(3913). We hear about the complaints all the time. I sometimes wonder if people don't complain just to complain. You never hear from the 999 other folks out of 1000 that have a great time like us. Thanks for this report...smjj

I'm so glad to hear some good feedback on the Poly. We are headed there in 3 weeks and I was getting a bit nervous with some of the reviews I've been reading lately. We LOVE the Poly but haven't stayed there since the early 90's and are really looking forward to it.

Glad you had a great time!

BTW - How crowded were the parks?

Glad you had a great time!

We have had many great experiences at the POLY! ::yes::

We are just back from POP 10/10-10/14. Liked POP fine, though it is not Poly!! We had O'hana character breakfast on Mon. Of all the character meals we have done in the past, I was most disappointed in this one. I don't know if the characters were having a bad rainy day or what but only Chip was pleasant and walked around to each of the 5 kids at our table. The other characters almost walked away before we could get the kids out of their seats to go over to the character to get a picture. This after waiting a long time for Mickey after finishing the meal. Liked the dance but won't do this one again.

How do you think the crowds were in the park? I thought it was much busier than I expected for Oct.

I didn't mean to highjack your thread. Just meant to ask you about your opinion of the crowds since we never went this time of year before. Thanks.

Glad to hear some people have had some POSITIVE experiences lately at the Poly. We have a trip planned for next summer, and I have been questioning whether the Poly will be as magical as we had hoped. Sounds like you had a wonderful time, and I hope we will too!

We walked around and ate at the Poly on our last trip in September and really loved the romantic feel of the resort. All of the CMs we encountered were super friendly, Kona Cafe was awesome, and we got to watch Wishes from the beach. It seemed so magical and romantic. The volcano pool also looked like a lot of fun. I hope they get some of these negative staff issues I've been reading about lately resolved.

I was there for 5 days and never encountered a staff member that did not go out of thier way to say "Aloha". One time I asked a staff member a question about the laundry facility and she said she was sorry she did not speak English but motioned me to wait and she ran and got another cast member to answer my question. The staff members in the shops and restaurants were very friendly. We even had friendly conversations with the lifeguards at the volcano pool. This comes after posts from guests that were there the week before and mentioned how rude everyone was. I just dont get it. After reading so many negative posts it almost feels like we were in different places.

We were at the Poly two weeks ago and also had a wonderful time. Everyone said aloha and mahalo. The room was clean and didn't have any kind of smell. We have been to the Poly 6 times in the last 3 years and have always had great experiences. I am sure that there are folks that do not have a good time there as is the way with all resorts at WDW at one time or another. I can't really say it is because some like to complain because I had a horrible time at the WL once and will never go back. Things happen everywhere.

Finally !! something good about the Poly. We were there for our honeymoon in September and had the same room as you, 3943, in Tokelau. The view of the courtyard and the quiet pool was awesome. Everything was clean, mousekeeping did a great job everyday, each and every CM we encountered was super nice. I don't understand all these recent negative reviews on these boards, I agree, it's like we were at a different resort.

I'm glad your trip was wonderful. I also like the convenience of Captain Cook's and I think the prices are reasonable for fairly good food. Having a 24 hr. restaurant on property sure is a bonus! Threehearts

We've stayed at the Poly twice, both times in Tokelau...in fact I think we were in 3941. Anyway, we were very pleased both times. In fact, the Poly is now officially our favorite resort.

Welcome Home!

Thank you for the positive review of the Poly! I'm so glad you had a wonderful stay there.

We think the Poly is a "little slice of heaven on earth" too!
