Just spent 9 nights at SOG. First off, the resort looks amazing. I didn't know what to expect with the renovations. It really looks like an entirely different place. We had 3 rooms for our groups. Our only requests were to be near each other. We received rooms 165-167 in the old section, right next to the pool and Evergreen's, which worked great for us. Rooms were awesome. We did go swimming a few times as the weather was beautiful up until the end of the trip. Housekeeping was always great. Only problem we had was the morning we attempted to purchase our tickets. The computer system was down throughout Disney for awhile. A manager came in and she got in touch with the Disney folks and managed to get one computer up and running for sales. Evergreens was great, Garden Gallery for dinner not so good, for breakfast was great. Used the fitness center a couple of times and had a good selection of equipment. Transportation was a definite thumbs-down. We preferred walking to the Poly, but the few times we did use the bus were terrible. It just seemed very disorganized. Lots of switching busses to different routes and very off-schedule. Finally, we were afraid we would not see any alligators because we were not sure what all had been renovated. However on our first morning walk to the Poly, we saw a big one on the bank of the pond. If there are any questions, please ask. Thanks.

We are going to SOG this week and we will also have 3 rooms. My parents have requested pool-side rooms (3 children), so we're anticipating the old section. My father is handicapped (motorized scooter), but is there a particular area of the resort we should try to request if possible when we check in? We don't care which of the 2 pools we're near...I guess, or should we care???. We'll be driving our cars to the parks due to the scooter hassle. And we probably will grab a quick breakfast a couple days and at least one dinner at Mangino's.

I know one poster said that they could see Wishes fireworks from their room 316. But a ground floor walk out to the pool might be nice as well.

Any suggestions considering pool, walking, restaurants, car?

From the slideshow, it looks like the original rooms have a bit more living space than the new ones. Is this true?
