Hey everyone we just got back this morning from the POR!! Our last stay was at the AKL this past April.

I didn't request a building in advance because I couldn't decide so I left it up to fate-lol.

We checked in on the 25th at 9am and our room was ready!!! we were placed in Parterre place, room 9712, in the mansions section. It was a beautiful location, a short walk from the lobby just over a bridge. The room was very spacious, I kept saying that it felt bigger then our room at the AKL even though it wasn't technically. There were plenty of spaces to store things which was great. There was a big shelf in the bathroom area that fit a ton of stuff. The room was VERY clean, no mold, dust etc...to be found and even the carpet was very clean and in great shape.(I looked because of recent reports I read-lol.) Our view was of a garden to the left and to the right you could see the parking lot through the trees. It was SO quiet! The resort was booked solid but you'd never be able to tell it.

The POR is beautiful and peaceful. It really is like 2 separate resort with the AB and mansions, it was really neat. We rented a Surry bike and boat to explore and they were a lot of fun.

We ate at Boatwrights for just appetizers, it was pretty good. Then we ate at the food court twice for dinner, it was VERY good!

At check in the CM, Eric, asked my kids names and then asked me what there favorite characters were. A few days later when we came back to the room they each had a autographed picture and card waiting for them!! MY DS had on from Pooh and the gang and DD had one from Snow White. They are even personally addressed to them, they were thrilled when they found them!!

We went to the main pool once but my DD didn't like it that much, she liked the one at the AKL better. The pool is definitely in need of the rehab it's getting, I bet it's going to be awesome when it's done. The playground was GREAT and a big hit!! I went in the hot tub once and it was very hot and relaxing, I did miss having the 2 like we did at the AKL but it was no big deal. We went to the quiet pool by our rom and it was very nice and very warm the main pool was on the cooler side.

The transporatation was OK. We had 2 separate minor problems. The one was after E-night on the 26th, we waited 45 minutes for a bus to arrive, we timed it. But all the stops seemed to have long waits that night except for Coronado springs, All-stars and Old Key west. We left the MK a little before 11pm and didn't get back to our room till 12:30am. Another didn't involve a bus for the POR, it was at MGM for a bus to Downtown Disney, we had to wait awhile and then stand. AT the POR we did figure out that in the morning the Main bus depot is the last to be picked up, where in the afternoon and eveing it's the first. The boat to Downtown Disney was great! The one night the boat CM told us that it would've took us an hour to get back if we had gone to the busses. We waited 5 minutes for a boat, everyone had a seat and it was a nice relaxing ride. Overall Disney still gets 2 big thumbs up from us in the transportation department. So far the AKL wins hands down when it comes to the bus transportation.

We would defintely go back to the POR again if we stayed at a moderate, it was a wonderful resort! The CM's were all very helpful and the grounds are beautiful and in immaculate shape!!

Thank you for your great report! I am due to go to POR, as you can see by my countdown below. Your info really helped confirm my request for Riverside. I know it's no guarantee, though. Either one will be great for us, I'm sure.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed the food court. I have a few PS's, but plan to dine at the food court most.

How was the shop at the resort?

Where do you plan to stay for surprise trip?

How was the shop at the resort?

The shop was very nice! They had a large selection of items available. This past trip was the surprise trip.

Hope you have a great trip!!! We really loved the POR.

We, too, just returned from PO-Riverside, and, as you can see from my signature, we love it there! We were in the Alligator Bayou section and were very comfortable. The housekeepers made cute animals out of our towles and washcloths (a turkey on Thanksgiving!) and posed the kids' stuffed animals in cute ways. We love the boat service to DD! We had one bad bus experience on the night we arrived (let me preface this by saying we have never had complaints about the bus service in the past); we had been to the Poly Luau and got on a bus back to DD, planning to transfer to another bus to POR (thought it might be too chilly to take boat). We didn't wait too long for the bus, but when we got on it was PACKED - literally no room to move, and we were all standing. It was also stifling hot on the bus. It is not a quick trip from the Poly to DD, and by the time we arrived I was having a mild anxiety attack - I said right then and there, NO MORE BUSES! We took the boat back to POR (it was pleasant, and surely quicker) and then drove our own car the rest of the week.

PO-Riverside is GREAT! Definitely our favorite!

We are starying POR in two days. This will be our first stay there, and I am so glad to hear that you enjoyed yourself! Thank-you for the report. Ami:D

Oh it brought back great memories reading your report. POR for us is like going home. We are just so relaxed there. When we stayed at a different resort this past summer (just to try something different) we had to spend an afternoon at POR because I missed it.

My mom and I love POR, too. However, we are staying at ASMu in February just to save money for a May trip. Isn't it nice to have somewhere that feels like home when you get there? And people wonder why I go back to WDW over and over. We'll be going to POR during our ASMu stay, too, just to walk around and eat at the food court. MMMMMM......beignets........

A1A1,
Your info really helped confirm my request for Riverside.
I'm assuming that your reservation is for PO-Riverside (as opposed to PO-French Quarter), and that your request is for either Allligator Bayou or Magnolia Bend, correct? I'm not trying to be picky, just to point out that if you do have a preference between those two sections (AB or MB), that you should state that clearly to CRO, or via fax to the room controller before your arrival, as a "Riverside" reference would be ambiguous.

Halle! Tell us how you told your family!!! Oh, and did you have enough food to go around? Where did you eat? Maybe I should have looked to see if you'd already posted, but this is the first I've seen of you since you told us all Happy Thanksgiving and drove away... Lucky You.

simonmunro- My DH thought we were going to visit my parents for the week. I told him that I had bad news, good news and great news. First I told him the bad news was that my sisters inlaws were coming too, making their house extremely crowded(he was really mad-lol) Then I told him the good news was that I'd saved 500.00 to go to the outlets by my parents house. Then I said the great news was that we wern't going to my parents at all...we were going to Disney World!!! He was completely shocked, he just stood there saying...you're kidding right? It was so funny. My DD didn't believe me either because she didn't think we were going anywhere, she thoughtb we were going to the mall!!! She was so funny, she kept saying are we REALLY going? It was great, I even hide a video camera and caught the whole thing on tape! The best part was I actually came home with 100.00!!!!! Thanks for asking, I think I'll go post over on the budget board too.

Thanks SamR. I must have been tired when I typed that. I meant that I had requested Magnolia Bend in PO Riverside.

Hallie - you brought back good memories for me. We stayed in Parterre Place on our honeymoon in a corner King room and loved it!!!! We felt the room was spacious too. In fact last year when we stayed at WL, DH and I both felt the room was way more cramped. We also loved the decor of the mansions rooms.

Wow, what a great surprise for your family!

Glad you had a great time!
Gi

Hallie, thanks for the excellent trip report. I had my first PO stay (French Quarter) last month and I loved it. I will definitely be back, this time to Riverside (gotta check it out). Do you have any photos of your stay? I would love to view them.
