I was a little nervous with all the bad reviews I hear about Pop Century, but I just stayed there for 7 nights and it was FABULOUS!

Mousekeeping was wonderful. We got a towel peacock our first night there and every night thereafter, a display of dd's toys were set up either on one of the beds or on the windowsill. Very cute. And they always came in the morning. I left a tip every day and got a thank you note in return.

The food court got old fast, but you can't beat the refillable mugs. The food court got exceptionally crowded after the parks closed, but other than that, the crowds weren't too bad. Same with the pool.

Busses came every 10 minutes or so, so there was very little waiting. The only time I had to wait longer than that was when I was waiting for the bus to DTD.

We were in the 60's building (Playdoh section) facing the courtyard on the 2nd floor (Room 4228). I only heard the toilet in the room next to mine flush once the entire time we were there. One warning about the toilets though....stand back when you flush them or you WILL get splashed. :crazy2:

My only complaint is that the parking lot rows aren't numbered or anything. After losing our car once, we left the car parked at the end of the handicapped row, so we would know where it was.

Any questions, let me know. :)

Glad to hear you had a nice stay!

We will be in the 60s building on Wednesday! I'm glad to hear that noise wan't much of an issue. I had seen some other posts mention it, but I think you always run the risk of loud neighbors, where ever you go.

We'll stand back from the toilets when they flush! Thanks!

LOL! The toilet flush is very poweful, but fast, so the noise only last a couple seconds.

How do you know what building you will be in? I didnt think you found that out until you got there.

I would love to find out ahead of time

I don't know about the previous poster, but I requested a Preferred room, which is in the 60's building. It's only a request and you may not get it. But I was lucky, I guess. ;)

I am glad to here you had a good stay. We will be staying there in December, and I was becoming a little concern with some of the other comments i had read. thank you:bounce:

DD and I stayed in the 70's building (Big Wheel) two weeks ago and loved it. I thought it was a preferred room because it was so close to the food court and main building but it wasn't. We would stay there again without question. We're used to the toilets since DH installed one at home several months ago! We had no problem with noise but did hear the neighbors flush a few times.

We stayed at the Pop Century in February 2004 and will be going back in February 2005!!! Loved the resort and can't see any reason to pay more for a room that you are only at for sleeping.......with the great room-only discounts we were able to get two connecting rooms; one with doubles for the two kids and a king for us!! This way we had two bathrooms and could go to bed when we wanted. It was perfect!

Everything was new and fresh and we can't wait to go back!!!

I was wondering if you remember your room numbers. We have asked for connecting rooms as we are a party of 6 (2 adults, 4 kids) and I didn't realize you could have a king bed connecting to a room with doubles.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

I CAN'T BELIEVE WE WILL BE IN FLORIDA IN 10 DAYS !!!!!!!

Requesting room numbers is a good guarantee not to get those rooms.

Requesting one king, and one double connecting, (as long as you have no decade preference), you stand a much better chance (although still not guaranteed)

Thanks Tyler!!!

I will just leave it as is then! Thanks for the tip!!

We stayed at Pop in May and loved it. We were in the 50's right by the lake. What a view to see everymorning! I can't believe that anyone would complain about Pop. We loved it. We stayed at CBR July 03 and actually enjoyed Pop better! I can't wait to go back. We hope to go back next May.

I do have a ? though....Does anyone know when the Legendary years will open? Would love to stay on that side next time!

POP is one of my favourite resorts. I like to go there when I am on a solo trip. The resort with all of its icons is like a trip through memory lane: very comforting.
Having said this, the resort is always full and the waits are longer for buses than other resorts. But the wait is never too long, and once you get to a park you have to wait in lines all day anyway.
I am looking for to my next stay just two months away.

We must have stayed in the same are becasue we had that wonderful view as well.

I asked the same question on the original POP FAQ thread and Tyler (former POP CM) said that construction is halted for the time being, no info on when it will begin again. Hopefully, it will start soon becausr rhey have the facade up and what a waste to leave it sitting there unfinished! Also looking forward to staying there when it finally opens! :)

I'm curious as to what icons they're going to use for that side of the lake. I was trying to think what pop culture items were iconic during the 1900's through the 40's but nothing is popping into my head that makes much sense. :scratchin

Possibly automobiles for the earliest years. Baseball was huge in those days. Flappers dancing in the 20's section? The Wright Brothers. They should do a lounge with a prohibition theme:) You have to know the password to get in.

Angela, great ideas!!!!

I've been wondering the same and wondered if one area might be Victorian for the turn of the Century,1900's, also Flappers 1920's (right?),30's? TV was born in the late 40's?

I'd love a Victorian themed section, but what kind of icons would not be tacky?? Wait, it's supposed to be tacky and over the top!!! Guess I'm kind of hoping for an area a little more subtle :charac2:

I do like your idea of a password to get into a prohibition lounge!!!!

Why have they halted construction? Are they having a hard time finding the icons for those years? Anyway, hope they do begin again soon. Can't wait to see it.
