Just back from POFQ

We just got back on Saturday from 7 nights at POFQ. We really loved it! The location is central to everything! The resort is a perfect size. The rooms were beautiful. We were in building 2, 3rd floor, connecting rooms as requested. The kids loved the pool. The food court is small, but it met our needs (soda refills, quick dinner). We used the buses for everything and only had one time where we had a wait of about 20 minutes. All of the other trips were about a 5 minute wait. The only time we drove anywhere was over to the Contemporary for dinner at Chef Mickey's and to Universal for a day. We would definitely stay there again. We have stayed at All Stars, CBR, and Contemporary, but I think POFQ may be my favorite of all of them.

Thanks for the review! My family will be staying at the POFQ for the first time next April. I have a couple of questions for you, if you don't mind my asking? First, how late was the food court open in the evenings and how soon did they open for breakfast? Any recommendations on what's good to eat there and/or avoid eating? How long was the drive over to the Contemporary? We're thinking of going there for breakfast one morning. Oh, one more- did you have a fridge in your room or did you have to request one?

Aimz,

The food court was open until 11pm. I don't know what time the food court opened in the morning since we ate breakfast in the room everyday. We had a refrigerator in the room when we checked in. We had pizza and chicken strips, cake, ice cream and refillable soda from the food court. It was fine, standard park food. The drive over to the Contemporary was about 15 minutes. It took forever to find a parking spot! Enjoy your trip!

Very glad to hear you loved the resort.

My family and I are staying there Feb 9-15/05.

I was actually kicking myself (lol, I wish, I'm not that limber) for not upgrading to a deluxe resort, but I am now confident that I will be happy with what I chose (and I can use the extra money for other stuff!)

The drive over to the Contemporary was about 15 minutes.

there is a great short-cut to the contemporary - if you come out of the resort and turn RIGHT (which is contrary to the signs), and head up the road, to a T junction, turn LEFT at the T, and drive past Fort Wilderness - this brings you out onto the road to the Contemporary just past the MK Toll Booths (you can't use this short cut to MK, but works great to all the hotels)
This is the way the buses go, but it took us a few days to realise that we could also use this route.

Our other shortcut was to DTD, or to leave property by Hotel Plaza- if you turn right along Vacation Club road and drive past Old Key West and Saratoga Springs you cut out all those traffic lights around Downtown Disney.

We also LOVED POFQ, we will definitely go back. I have enjoyed other resorts, but never felt that I must go back to any - this is a definite must for us.

My DH went over early for coffee most mornings, and he thinks that he was able to go across for coffee from about 6:30am.

We stayed there in Nov. and really enjoyed it. It was a great size and we hardly had to wait for the buses. The only thing that took awhile was riding the boat to Downtown Disney at dinnertime. It was very crowded and a pretty long wait. I would suggest going early afternoon to avoid the crowd.

Thanks, Margiemc, for the answers to my questions! We're really excited about our upcoming stay at POFQ, and your details help. Thanks, also, to Bev for the tip about the shortcut to Contemporary!

Glad you liked it. Will be there for Spring Break. :cool1:
Us too! We'll be there at the POFQ from 3/25/05-4/2/05. See you there! BTW, thanks margiemc for the trip report. We're really looking forward to our first trip to WDW!

Thanks for the info on POFQ. DH,DD,DS and I are staying in February (11-18) and had the same questions regarding the food court.

We won't be renting a car, can anyone suggest the best way to get to Chef Mickey's for dinner? Thank you. princess:

yes - get the bus to MK and walk to the contemporary - it's about a 5 minute walk

lap3, those are the exact days we will be there also. Hope to see you by the pool. :cool1:
Very cool! From what I hear, POFQ is fairly small so the chances of running into each other is possible. Looks like we should plan a DIS meet some time that week! Anyone up for it?

We love POFQ! In fact we will be there for 2 nights before heading to a 1 bedroom at OKW for 5 additional nights. We had booked those nights at ASMo which we also enjoy, but when the discounts came out I asked my DH "If you could stay anywhere the first two nights were would you want to stay?" and he said "POFQ-no doubt". We enjoyed it when we stayed there in 2000 and we know we will enjoy it in January! It is a great resort! So glad you had a nice trip!

Wow - looks like there will be a number of us there in Feb. Hubby and I are there from the 13th to the 18th. I can't wait!! It's been 10 years since my last trip, and my family always stayed at Fort Wilderness, so this trip is going to be extra special!

One of the things we most loved about POFQ was the boat ride to Downtown Disney. What a fun way to get there, and completely unique to the PO resorts.
The pool and housekeeping "stuffy & towel art" were highlights as well!

We're trying CSR this time, but it has to beat POFQ! Our favorite so far!
