Just back from OKW in GV...I have one word...WOW!!!

Just got back from our first trip home to OKW and stayed in a Grand Villa. What a great time. The place was amazing. We got most of our requests and stayed in building 16. The resort is fantastic. There was a DJ playing old Disco hits on Sunday afternoon and everyone was having a great time. Went to my first member update meeting last Tuesday and I was surprised at how many people were there. I got a new pin lanyard, a 10 year anniversary pin, a Vacation Club member hat, beverage coozie, and a couple of beach balls. I thought I hit the jackpot.

The weather was great all week. Not to hot, and very little rain, but when it came, it came hard. I thought the bus service was absolutely awesome. I don't think we waited over 10 minutes for any bus to anywhere we were going (and we had a rental car all week). The Trumbo fairy ride at night to Downtown Disney was one of the least expected great surprises of the trip. We took it one night when we were all pretty beat and heading back to the room when my DW said let's just ride down and take the bus back and what a great ride it was. It is so cool coming into the little bay area of Downtown Disney at night. We were able to get a pretty good view of the new Saratoga Springs going up too.

The parks were manageable all week and we did everything we wanted to do and more. Had great interaction with the characters and there were plenty to go around.

Overall, one of the best trips my family has ever experienced at the World. Sorry this was so long, but it was just amazing getting to stay at my home resort for the first time. I think I got my Welcome Home said to me every time we entered the property. It was MAGNIFICENT!!!

You got all that just for going to an owners meeting? WOW! If so, I will have to make it a point to go! Thanks for your trip report, we got a GV for next April. I can't wait!

MG - tell us all about the GV. We also have one in March and can't wait. OKW is a truly GREAT resort (IMHO)!

Bojo-The GV was really something. The bedrooms were all big. The one with the 2 queen size beds had plenty of room to walk around each side and there was a chair and armoire in there. The master was truly that. It had it's own entrance onto the balcony which was also huge. I haven't been on too many balcony's that have ceiling fans. Our view was good but not great. We could see the green of the number six hole but it was partially obstructed by a tree. We could see the foutain really well. All the appliances were brand new, or at least they appeared that way. We loved having the full size washer and dryer right in the room with the full size ironing board.

There were 10 of us in the room, 5 adults and 5 kids. We never heard our neighbors or any of the busses. It was really quiet and peaceful in the evenings. I slept like a baby. The whirlpool bath was a delight for both the kids and the adults.

You can see some really good pictures on Deb Wills site, but don't look at all of them. Save some for a surprise. You'll be glad you did.

Building 16 was my second choice. It was still only a 3 to 5 minute walk to the Hospitality house and main pool.

It really made the trip special. We enjoyed coming back in the afternoons so much more on this trip knowing what we would be coming back to.

Glad you had such a fantastic trip....I'd love to stay in a GV someday. I love those boats into DTD. It really beats the parking lot.

Thanks MG! I'm not sure I can make it all the way to March for my next Disney fix; maybe the DW will let me take a solo trip later this year. ------ Yeah right!

I must say I truly cannot wait any longer to have your experience about OKW in general. Less than 2 months to go. We will be staying 4 nights for the first time right after our July 5th cruise. We joined in 10/00 and the waiting is killing me now.

MickeyGolf -- Now you've gone and spoiled yourselves! How can you ever go back to a hotel room or even a studio? LOL!!

Thanks for taking the time to give a report. I'm glad your first trip home was a great one. Also glad to hear the buses were running so smoothly. It doesn't seem like we're hearing very many complaints about the buses anymore. Maybe they've finally got the system worked out....not that it was so bad to begin with.
