Just back from NYC Inaugural cruise: info inside! UPDATE:*pics on my web site added*

Thanks for posting all of this great info. We are doing the 8/17 cruise and are getting super excited!

Added:Before, when we have dined in Parrot Cay on Pirate night, we got menus that were rolled up like a scroll/treasure map. I will have to look to see if the foods are the same. Since it wasn't a "full" pirate night (no fireworks) I am not sure if the menu was the same or different!

How come no firework ? Bad weather or was it plan this way ?

Pictures of the Menu at AP on Pirate night in Alaska this past August:

Maybe it will give you all an idea :) I hope you can read it!!;)

I think that Mom2Princesses was referring to their Alaskan cruise.

On this NYC/Bahamas cruise we had the menu that looked like a scorched scroll, but it wasn't the old type that was smaller and rolled up, this was on heavy stock and opened up like a regular menu.

We had the full Pirate Night on this cruise, complete with fireworks! :)

This was Port Canaveral day, and from what I understand, there were very few passengers onboard.

We were in WDW for the day and had dinner there and didn't get back to the ship until around 11pm or so.

For the guests who were onboard for dinner, they were able to show up at any of the restaurants, at any time that they were open, like going to a restaurant at home. No pre-set seating times or restaurants for that night, only.

is there a way to find out what post cruise excursions are offered before getting on the ship? we cruise august 17th and this might be something we are interested in

If you go to the Port Adventures section of the DCL web site, choose New York City and it will list the different excursions. There are 3 different tours offered, and 2 Disney Broadway musical excursions, but I think those 2 had to be arranged for before the cruise.

Correct, they are offered either the day before your cruise or the day you get off the ship. Loin king and or Mary Poppins.

We are booked for the Mary Poppins tour

The New Amsterdam Tour is required to have a minimum number of participating guests. If that number is not reached 15 days prior to the cruise, the tour will be canceled. However, we will still offer seats for the Mary Poppins or Lion King shows at an adjusted rate.

June 15th 2012 5:00pm - The New Amsterdam Theatre Backstage Tour with Mary Poppins on Broadway ( Show time is 8:00pm)Orchestra seating !!! it is only 20 bucks more than purchasing the tickets...

I too want a post-cruise excursion and I hate that you have to wait to book it. I think they wouldn't have to cancel any if you could prebook it...folks just don't want to take the risk of not having anything planned.

I'm definitely going to go on the first day and ask them to start a waitlist. There are 5 people in our group, so its a good start!

Our flight doesn't leave until 5:30 so I want to spend the day sightseeing and not sitting at the airport!

No Ariel on board? :confused3 That is disappointing. I hope that she will appear on the NY to Canada Cruises. There are a lot of little girls looking forward to seeing her on board.

Sorry, no fireworks on the Alaskan cruise. Environmental reasons. I think it is the only cruise they do not do fireworks at sea! pirate: No worries, Carribean cruises always have it :thumbsup2

Sorry for the confusion!

Just wondering....What was done for Annual Pass Holders who didn't need a ticket for WDW?

As far as I know, nothing was done for Annual Pass Holders. The Park Hopper was included on our KTTW card and whether you used it on the Port Canaveral day or not was up to each person.

For any DVC member, did you have a welcome aboard presentation for DVC member ? If so when was it ? (usually embarkation day in the afternoon)

We had cabin 7584 with a Veranda and it was fabulous!! That cruise was just wonderful.....even with the 250 mile detour out to east it was comfortable and Sunny!! had a fabulous time!!

Wondering if anyone knows the answer to this. On our WDW day Wishes is at 10 pm. Will we have time to watch it and then get back in the last bus by 11? Thanks!

I'm not a DVC member but I'm pretty sure that they had a special reception/presentation for returning cruisers.

It was an excellent cruise, wasn't it?! :sunny:

On our cruise the last bus was 10:30pm but from what I've heard, the buses were running later than that from the Magic Kingdom. I'd check with the Port Adventures desk on your specific sailing to see if you'd have time to see Wishes or not. Also, we were the first sailing doing this, so maybe on future cruises they will tweak the bus times. I heard that the line was long at 10:30pm that people had to wait a while for enough buses to arrive at the MK.

I started working on my web page for this cruise. I only have a few pictures up right now, but I'll be adding a lot more later on!

Love this! Thanks so much for sharing! One question...what was the wording on the Mickey hands they gave out for you guys to wave with when sailing away from NY? I wonder if they will do that for all the cruises leaving out of NY? I really hope so, we cruise August 17th!
