...and I did not take good dining notes, but here's a few of the highlights....
Earl of Sandwich--great food. I had the original roast beef and DH had the chicken florentine sandwich. Both were tasty and well prepared. The lines were quite long as the word is out on this place!
Artist Palette/Saratoga Springs--pricey, but good. We each had a flatbread pizza. They were tasty but not really worth the cost. The dining area is quite pleasant as it is beautifully designed with bright colors and artwork. In hindsight, perhaps it was the cost of the one 12 oz. beer ($6.13) that has me remembering this quick dinner as a bit costly.
Liberty Tree Tavern--a must for Mickey's Halloween Party. The food was good--nothing new or exciting here. The turkey was moist and tasty, but the roast beef was not so great. The mac and cheese is, of course, Stouffers--orange, creamy, and okay. All in all, a fun way to start off the party as the characters were in costume and full of energy!
Biergarten/Germany--always a great time and tasty food. We had a wonderful dinner with fun dining companions from Wisconsin, Florida, and NYC on this visit. It's always great fun visiting with folks during dinner, and the entertainment is wonderful. Of course, after two liters of beer, DH was having even more fun that I was! The food was great as usual--especially the bratwurst and sweet mustard!
Boma/Animal Kingdom Lodge--dinner here is an excuse to visit one of our favorite resorts. The meal was great and included nut-crusted salmon, pork loin, and prime rib. The soups were very tasty and included gumbo, chicken pepper pot, and a nice bean soup. The cassava melon custard cake is one of my alltime favorite desserts--even better than fabled zebra domes.
Fresh/Dolphin--a new stop for breakfast. I was eager to try Fresh based on the interesting menu offerings and feedback on this forum. I'm not sure how I feel about this one after trying it. I liked the food--the turkey tenderloin and omelette station were nice. The food was indeed "fresh," and the selection was okay. The problem I had with it was that I don't feel like the design was well thought out. Too many folks cluttered around the omelette station and waiting for french toast and/or pancakes made for a frantic and chaotic mess rather than the tranquil morning meal that I was hoping for. Will we be back? Maybe--but I prefer Boma over this one.
Ohana/Polynesian--never miss this one! Ohana is one of our traditional stops, and this visit did not disappoint. The shrimp, turkey, and pork tenderloin were all prepared and presented especially well on this occasion.
Mama Melrose/MGM--a new stop for us. We each had a flatbread here, and we enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the food. Mama Melrose certainly does not stand out as a culinary masterpiece, but for a good lunch absent of french fries, we found this one to be a charming option.
Flametree Barbecue/Animal Kingdom--another favorite. Can you tell we are creatures of habit? We just love to sit down for a leisurely lunch at Flametree inclusive of ribs, beans, and corn. We usually opt for the "meal deal" and leave the park with chocolate-covered frozen bananas and bottled water for the afternoon pool visit. The ribs were succulent and meaty as usual. Flametree is always a must for us!
Beaches and Cream/Beach Club--Beach Club Villas is "home" for us, and, as such, we spend a bit of time at Stormalong Bay pool each afternoon napping and swimming about before the second round of parks and fun begins in the evening. Beaches and Cream offers a nice "burger and onion rings" sort of lunch for those occasions. We have our favorite waitress, "Jane," and our favorite dessert too--No Way Jose!
Biggest disappointment on this trip--why can't El Perata de Perico ever be open at Magic Kingdom? While certainly not "must have food," this joint has always been a nice treat for us when one too many hot dogs and way too many french fries leaves us wanting something different. Maybe it's our homesickness for mexican food that has us craving their tacos. Whatever the reason, it is truly disappointing to find this little AdventureLand jewel closed most of the time.
Oh yeah--Food and Wine Festival--many treats crossed our lips on this trip. The memorable ones included the Flourless Chocolate Hazlenut Cake (to-die-for!) in the Italy area and the goulash from Germany. We also enjoyed the lobster corn chowder from the good ole' US. DH had beer from just about every country. The ones that I recall he really enjoyed (other than his favorite--Stella Artois) included the Taj Mahal from India and the Sam Adams Octoberfest. He did both of the beer tasting events, and since I don't like beer, he got to have my samples too! I would say that this trip was one that he enjoyed quite a bit!
Any questions, please feel free to ask. I'm sure there's more that I've forgotten.........sleep....I need sleep......
