Just back from MOWC.

We spent 12 nights at MOWC and the place is huge but very nice. We had 2 connecting rooms. One room with 2 doubles and one room with king and daybed. We ate at Solaris restaurant a few times and found the food mediocre at best. We had to complain about our bed because there was a board (plywood) under our mattress. They did remove the resort fee and gave us a free breakfest. We had a rental car but used the shuttle a few times. the cost is 7.00 per person. children under 4 ride for free. This was our first time off site. MOWC is nice but we will stay on site from now on. We just need more magic I guess. Anyway, I would be happy to answer questions if anyone has any.

Also, did you use a rewards card to try to get an upgrade of some kind? It worked for others like requesting a high floor with a Disney view.

I'm understanding that there are two, different resort fees. Is this true?

How much of the resort did you use? Just to sleep or????

Can you provide directions from airport? and Disney? Do you get on I-4 to go to Disney or is there a different way?

We only paid between $60 and $70 a day to stay there in April. I have 3 priceline sucessful bids in a row for MOWC. For that price do you think we did good?

Thanks for any and all info.

Wow - the MOWC went from a $9.54/room/day resort fee that everyone complained about (with "free" shuttle to WDW), to a $5.30/day resort fee and $7.00 PER PERSON shuttle fee!

We requested the north tower with WDW view and got it. We used our reward card for the upgrade. We got the rooms from priceline for 58.00 a night for each room for 12 nights. It was a bargain alright. I will post directions to MOWC from MCO later tonight. Yes, Nancy, they are tacking on alot of charges. Oh well.

We did use the fitness center several times. It is a great facility. We did swim in the grotto pool a few times but mostly used the indoor pool because it was very chilly most days.

There is only one resort charge of 5.30 daily plus the 7.00 shuttle charge. We rented a car from national for 192.00 for 12 days. Again we got a great rate on the car too. Gotta love Emeral Isle at national.

With the north tower you can park in the north parking lot and it is a short walk to the north tower section. Then just hop on an elevator to your floor. You will like MOWC.

Muffy, seems like you were there the same time I do. I was there for 4 nights from 1/03/01 to 1/07/01.

During check-in, the receptionist said no EPCOT facing rooms are available and placed me in a room in the north wing facing the convention area. The funny thing is 30 minutes after arriving in my room, I placed a call to the front desk requesting a room change and voila an EPCOT view room appeared! The new room is considerably bigger than the first one, as it houses a large couch which is not available in the first room.

Hotel is huge and the furnishings very comfortable. I parked my car at the lot behind north wing, and never once was the lot full. On a couple occassions I would return late at night (Like midnight), and there would still be plenty of empty spaces.

Resort fee is now $5.30. While cheaper, it is in my opinion an even bigger rip-off as it provides nothing of value. The old resort fee at least includes a basket of golf balls everyday, free shuttle to the parks, plus use of tennis courts, none of which is available now. All you get for the fee now are daily papers, coffee, access to fitness center, free local calls and some stupid daily activities (Crayon painting anyone?). Many of which should have been free to begin with!

That said, I will still come back to this hotel the next time I visit Orlando. At rack rate, I will probably choose to stay on-site, but considering I paid only $60 per night versus $200 plus for comparable Disnet hotels, I think the savings justify the extra trouble.

We stayed at MOWC from December 26 - 31. I absolutely loved it. I'm not sure which wing we were in. I asked for a Disney view but there were none so she asked if I'd like a view of the fancy pool or the quiet pool. I chose the quiet that also faced the wonderful fitness center. I could see Epcot and some of DD which, in my mind, is a Disney view. We only paid $49 and I would LOVE to stay there again. My husband liked it too but prefers the Wyndham Palace, for some reason.

Those priceline MOWC deals are pretty hard to beat!!!

We were there last September and stayed at the new north wing and absolutely loved it!

BambyTamby,
How do you turn MR points in for free airmiles? How do you check to see how many points you have on your MR card? I would love to see how many points I have for my 12 day stay! TIA

Muffy

Call Marriott Rewards and ask for an updated account to be sent to you!
Usually the rep will explain to you how many points you have accumulated towards air points!
But, you must add the air company to your MR account, ie, I have Continental OnePass on my account!

If you are using priceline, the priceline amount will not be added to your MR! :(
But, all the other room charges will be there!

Starwoods Pref accepts priceline charges,
but MR does not!
BUMMER!!! <IMG WIDTH="15" HEIGHT="15" SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif" alt="red face">

I use MR alot since I travel for my store,
so that with my AX Membership Rewards netted us
THREE Continental OnePass tickets for Nov/Dec.

Hope this helps you on future trips!
Also, MR will send you quarterly updates on your account!

:D
