I've debated whether or not to post, but a lot of people had asked me before our trip to let them know how it was for us, so I will share our experience.
It was our first time staying offsite, so I was concerned a bit that the "magic" wouldn't be there. I had read a good review of magicorlandorentals, so I decided to go with them. We rented a 3 bed townhome w/ splash pool very close to the clubhouse. We were a family of 6, DH and I, our 2 kids, and my divorced parents.
The good:
1.Location of the resort was quite close to Disney, easy to get to the parks and it was great to have other necessities close by.
2.Having a pool right outside the back door was heaven. I could sit in air conditioned comfort and watch the kids. They never even asked to go to the "big" pool at the clubhouse; it was cool and refreshing, and we really loved it.
3.The space was wonderful.
The Bad:
1. the childrens pool furniture was rusted and we didn't feel that it was safe for the kids to use, so had to leave it folded up. The kids were disappointed because they had seen it on the virtual tour, and were excited about it. But, they got over it.
2. there were supposed to be garbage bags, and there weren't. So we were stuck using disney merchandise and publix bags which was ok, but annoying- and the garbage guys weren't happy either.
3. the remotes had dead batteries. Not a huge deal, but we feel it should have been checked in between clients
4. some of the furniture was broken. Again, not a deal breaker, but not nice either.
The Ugly:
1. It was extremely important to us that we have a king bed in the master (our kids have special needs and one has a seizure disorder and can have seizures at night so we needed him in bed with us) the description of the house specifically said king size bed. I called to confirm- twice- over the course of a couple of months, and was assured that it was definitely a king size bed. Well, we arrived and it most certainly was not; maybe a queen, but barely. We contacted guest services, but all they said was that they knew it was only a queen, and didn't know why anyone would tell us otherwise; and that there was nothing they could do as all their homes were booked. suffice it to say, I didn't sleep well wondering if DS was going to tumble off the bed, and DH slept on the sofa downstairs for 9 days. Definitely not what we were hoping for on vacation. To me the bed was part of the problem, but the lack of honesty and communication were more significant.
2. The dryer never actually dried the clothes. We tried small, medium and larger size amounts and they dried faster over the stair rail. We had been depending on washing our clothes during the trip, so this was really annoying.
3. The upstairs hall carpet was underwater most of our trip due to a pipe leak in the house. Maintenance was called, but we didn't know the problem until after we arrived home from the parks so we were forced to wait up an extra couple of hours 2 nights in a row, plus having them there during the day trying to fix it- not to mention the ceiling leaking into the kitchen and worrying the drywall was going to fall down- really miserable. That being said, the maintenance guys were very nice.
I did speak to the company and in they have given us a $100 refund. For us, it was enough hassles that I probably wouldn't rent from them in the future. Hopefully I've left a review that is honest but as objective as possible. I wouldn't tell someone to definitely not rent from them, but as I said personally I doubt we will.
