Hello

We just returned home from CSR and what a stay it was :-)

We have stayed at ASMo several times before but when the special Amex discount came out earlier this year, we changed our reservation to the Coronado Springs Resort.

Let me start by saying that it is going to be difficult to go back to ASMo. CSR is just so beautiful. We stayed in Cabanas 8A, ground floor room as requested. The view was towards the Casitas area and the room were very quiet. Mousekeeping kept our room in impeccable order and even managed to add a little bit of magic by arranging the stuffed animals the kids brought with them in the window one day.

By the way - the kids are sure that disney must somehow have connections in the animal world. The first morning when our 9yo opened the door to go out, there was a young rabbit sitting barely 2 feet away just looking at her ! It didn't run or anything, just kept on gromming itself and once in a while looking at our youngest. I think they were standing there just 2 feet apart just looking at each other for more than 10 minutes. After that we frequently saw all kinds of animals rabbits, sqirrels, birds of all kinds and even a raccon one morning very early.

I took a walk around the lake early every morning - usually picking up coffee and milk on the way. I really liked the early morning at this resort, so quiet and so beautiful and I truely enjoyed the walk ( and I usually think that I do enough walking at the parks ) but I loved these quiet mornings, sometimes I would rest up in one of the hammocks and just watch for a while

Front desk was friendly and helpful and met every request with a smile. We did have a problem at the peppermarket one night, but it was solved to our compleate satisfaction - We didn't always agree with the mandatory tipping, but in the cases were we didn't receive any service it was taken off our bill without any discussion and an appolegy for not delivering the expected service.

We didn't understand why they closed the service at the dig site so early though - several times we went swimming at 5 pm and couldn't get anything to drink in the pool area at all. We found that strange because there were a lot of people around that time every day.

Well - this got longer than I planned to. Feel free to write if you have any questions

We ate at Pepper Market this last trip. I really enjoyed CSR, but Pepper Market was a little different for a food court!

DorotheaJN, welcome back. I, too, really enjoyed my CSR stay. It is a great resort. I am happy that you had a magical vacation. By the way, if you have photos, please post the link to them.

Dorothea,

The CSR is the only moderate I have yet to stay at, and I love reading reports like this. I have had such great experiences at all of the other moderates, and am looking forward to adding CSR to the list (the next trip will most likely be in the fall of 2003, since I am pregnant with our first DB (Disney Baby, LOL!!) due in January). I do have a question- did you feel like the CSR was a convention resort? I have heard others say they were a little put off by the business-like atmosphere of the CSR, and was wondering if you sensed any of that. It would never change my mind about staying there, but was wondering what your opinion was on this.

And isn't the wildlife great at Disney? I loved getting up early in the morning and seeing all the rabbits running around. You just don't get that in Boston!!

Glad you had a great time- if you are ever considering staying in any of the other 3 moderates (which I highly recommend!) and you have any questions, just let me know!!

Take care,

Mega

The only times I really noticed that CSR is a convention resort was in the morning when people in suits and other non-vacation attire would be passing me on my way around the lake. Some of these people were busy talking on mobile phones and carrying suitcases. It didn't bother me at all - I just felt sorry that they were too busy to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the other moderates - Which one did you like the best ?

Thank you for a great report! Sounds like you had a wonderful time!

What a great report! We will be staying there starting on the 26th.

What time did pool service end? How odd for them to close it so early! We like to swim at night and really don't want to run back to the room for a drink every time we want one. Not to mention the fact the I was so looking forward to a lovely more adult drink around that time! lol.

Every thing else sounds fantastic! We requested Cabana's too and sure hope we get them!

I'm glad you had a great time and thanks for the report.

We have stayed at CSR 3 times and it is hands down our favorite Moderate!

We have stayed at all but CBR.

We love the Pepper market and the mandatory tipping was not a problem for us.

We think that it being a convention hotel is a plus.We have hardly ever had anyone in the quiet pools when we were there and the main pool was never that busy either.

This last trip we stayed at ASMusic and the pools were packed!I really don't care for that. I like to be able to swim laps and this can be done very easily at CSR.

As far as Business people go we only ever saw them once when they had a big drug convention there when we were there. But only saw them at the PepperMarket getting coffees.

Glad you also enjoyed this resort.

Dorothea,

Which of the 3 moderates do I like the best? That is really a tough decision. I enjoyed all 3 of them immensely, for different reasons.

POFQ- This was the first on-site resort I had stayed at. Also, prior to our 2000 trip, the last time I had been at WDW was 1986! So, needless to say, I was in awe of everything. The resort was just wonderful. We really did enjoy the intimate feel, and the smaller size of the resort made getting to everything so easy. We had a room in building 2, which was very convenient to the pool, boat dock and the main check-in area. The room itself was very clean and well-maintained.

PO-Riverside- I absoluetly loved this resort. The landscaping was really beautiful. We stayed in the mansion area (Acadian House) and the walk to the food court every day was so pleasant. Once again, the room was great- very clean. We were closer to the parking lot this time but we didn't mind, since we always use a car (so I can't comment on any of the buses, sorry!). Both the quiet pool and the main pool were clean and not too crowded, but remember, we were there in January.

CBR- Just there last September, and the theming was really my cup of tea. We were in Jamaica, which is the prettiest village in my opinion!! The walk everyday over the bridge was so nice- and so much wildlife here!! We hung out at the outdoor pool bar, the Banana Cabana, for a little while each night, and the people who worked there were so pleasant! Once again, we had a great room- it had just been refurbished. We also had a waterview room, even though we only paid for a standard.

Sorry for the long post- if you have any further questions feel free to PM me!!

Glad to hear you enjoyed CSR! We will be there in a few weeks. I'm so excited I'm about to bust!!:p
We wanted to stay here in 2000 but had just returned from the SW so we thought it might be overkill. I've read so many great reviews of this place on these boards I just had to book it this year!
Thanks for sharing!
