....yes it was crowded, but we had a blast :) We loved MNSSHP. Here's a picture of the headless horseman from the parade:

I'm already planning on going again next year at the same time. The crowds were definitely larger than I expected, but we still had a great time! The Food and Wine Festival was great too :)

Thank you both -- the headless horseman pics are really cool! :thumbsup2

Yeah, we headed out on the 8th, and it was already getting crowded. Good to hear you had fun anyway. :)

Do you have an opinion as to how crowded it was compared to end of August? We were there this year the week before Labor Day and I thought the crowds were quite manageable. I'd like to go for a MNSSHP some time, and thought around Columbus Day might be a good idea, but maybe not????

We were there the beginning of Oct. and went to MNSSHP on Oct.5th and it was pretty crowded. You just have to be a little more patient I guess. We got to do alot of the stuff we planned on doing so it wasn't bad.

What were the average que times like? I only get a one-week vacation every other year during the school year (...a teacher... :) ) and we've given serious though to going next year the last weekend of September/first week of October if Disney offers the free DDP again. I'd actually be able to fit a full 10-day vacation in, see the MNSSHP, and be smack dab in the middle of the marking period, giving me plenty of time to get everything graded when returning before marking period grades are due. The crowds and heat were the major concerns though.

We've survived the last three summers at WDW, so we can definitely handle crowds and heat, but since this is a once-every-other school year vacation we'd like it to be the best it can be. We've done November and early December and had great times on those trips. Any comparisons you can share?

I'm also curious about the average que times, we leave in one day and trying to figure out what to expect.

We were there from Sept. 30th - Oct. 10th. The crowds were defiantly larger than I had expected. We arrived early and went to the Magic Kingdom the evening of the 30th. We got to ride Dumbo and that was it! The lines for Peter Pan were 80 mins! The rest of the week was fine very short waits for everything 20 mins. at the most (except Soarin) Then last weekend was packed again, I had never seen so many people in line just to get into the magic kingdom in my life last Sat.!
Hope fully it's slowed down a bit, it was Columbus day weekend and the start of Food and Wine.

Thanks. I've always wanted to go during this time but my it's hard for us because of my DH's job. I'm hoping one day we can go and see the MNSSHP and the F&W. But, I'll settle for going anytime.

It was a lot more crowded than I expected. We were there 6 weeks ago, and the crowds were definitely lighter then. We've been 4th of July, April vacation week, Easter week, so we're used to crowds. I also teach, so I'm limited as to when I can travel. Saturday night we went to Epcot, and it was wall to wall people! We went back to Epcot Sunday morning at park opening, and it was really nice- we ate our way around World showcase. We left the park at aboput 2, and the crowds were definitely starting to pick up. I'm already planning on returning next Columbus Day weekend with a friend :thumbsup2

Definitely much more crowded this time of year than at the end of August. Expect it to be pretty busy the week of Columbus Day. Crowds are much more manageable the end of August (if there are any).
