Just back from Caribbean Beach!

We arrived Sat, 12/21 and checked out one day early, 12/28. We have never stayed at this resort but really liked it a lot. We had rooms 2529 and 2530 in Martinique. We faced a small part of the lake.

The rooms were large and comfortable. Every thing was very clean but the beds were not new. It was comfortable but certainly used. Our comforters were brand new and so fluffy they were hard to fold down. Nothing was changed in the rooms from the pictures I have seen posted. I have not been here before so don't know how Port Royale was layed out... The entrance closest to the pool at the back enters onto the gift area for the CBR. There is a large gift shop to the left that has WDW merchandise and the usual emergency food and other things. The food court runs along the entire back wall and the seating runs along the entire front except for the restaurant that is now enclosed and is at the end of farthest from the pool.

The food court was really quite good. We had western omlets with potatoes, biscuit and bacon several mornings that DH and I split and I was really full with half of this. They have burgers and hot dogs, pizza and pasta, rotisserie chicken that I just missed one night. We did not get to eat at the restaurant. Wish we had but we had some great meals this trip. Oh yes, DH wants me to add that he HATED the Nescafe coffee served nearly everywhere and is planning to write letters.

I spoke with the fellow who was the first new guest and he said they took pictures, applauded and they got a "bunch" of free stuff including a free dinner for his party.

Hi RNMom! I didn't realize you were going! Of course you will have pictures at the next DIS Meet! Did you have much of a walk to the bus stop and did you have to wait on the bus long? How do you think a couple of boys (ages 11 and 8) would like the pool? I am going in July with youngest DS and a friend and her 8 year old son.

Are you able to gather all your food and then proceed to one cashier or do you still have to pay at the individual shops (which is very inconvenient for a family that likes to eat different things)?

Andrew, we did not get to eat at Shutters but I heard others say it was very good.

Tuffcookie, my DS 15 liked the pool the one night he ventured in. It was in the low 40's at night and kinda chilly for a swim. There were a few brave souls in the pool each night.

Seaspray, DH had the camera the whole time, I didn't think to ask him to take pictures of the food court. We got a new digital this fall and he was having "fun". Too bad we lost so many good pictures with his experiments.

Nolcrest, you go to the individual stations to get food and then to a cashier. It is really nicely layed out. The tables and the beverages/condiments are out past the cashiers. Very well planned out. The seating is also past the cashiers. There is a low rail between the food area and the tables.

I'm glad to hear they redesigned the foodcourt so you pay at one cashier. That was the only drawback to the original foodcourt.

I am planning to add 3 nights at CBR to my May trip. DH wants to try every resort at least once (I hope he wins the lottery before I get ressies at GF)

Is the new food court setup similar to the ASMO?

Does anyone know if any of the rooms have new beds?

We will be there Saturday afternoon, and am VERY excited, did All Star Sports last time, and really enjoyed it but decided to try CBR this time. Will let you all know how it is when we return - Jan 13th.
