Just back from BWV, VB and OKW.....we beat Charley!!

We left a day early from our 2 week stay to beat Charley home!!

The first part of the trip we stayed at BWV............5th floor overlooking Luna Park. We enjoyed it alot......our first stay there. We ran into friends staying the same week and our kids had a blast with theirs. Weather was mainly overcast with a little more than the expected afternoon thundershower but we still had a great time!!!

We left to spend the weekend at VB.............what used to be one of my favorites.......we left early to return back to OKW. My kids were very bored. We couldn't get a seat at the pool on Sat. by 9 AM as ALL chairs were taken!!! DH and I noticed this as we went for our walk and work-out at 7:30 AM!!! The resort was full and the weather beginning to look bleak so DH called up to OKW (with the help of the VB front desk staff) and we were able to get a day earlier. As my kids said, "a rainy day at Disney is better than Vero"!!! The staff were very nice but it just wasn't for my family..............it was when my kids were smaller!!!

We arrived at OKW and since we arrived a day early, I couldn't get my request for a top floor. We got a bottom floor beneath a Grand Villa. The first two nights were great................THEN..........it was like a herd of tiny elephants running around ALL NIGHT............after listening to the kids running rampat upstairs from 9 PM to 11:30 PM DH called the front desk. They sent security up once..............DH called back at 12:30 and they sent security up again..............we were not the only ones' to call..............Finally it calmed down close to 1:30 AM........we had planned on getting to Animal Kingdom by 9 AM that next morning but it did not work out!!!!! WE were exhausted!! Dh went to the front desk and spoke with the manager (I have her name written down somewhere!) the next morning and she was more than apologetic............Dh said he would not stand for it again tonight!!! Lo and behold they were quiet starting at 10 PM that Tuesday night..............Wednesday night they were up and running when we arrived back from Enight at 2:30 AM!!! WE were so wiped out we just passed out..........all 6 of us...........we left OKW on Thursday afternoon due to Charley heading our way..............

As always, we met some wonderful DVC members. All rooms were clean and orderly on arrival and we had no complaints otherwise................the pools were refreshing and the kids activities at OKW were great for my younger DD's.............they spent more time in Hanks then at the pool!!! They just love MaryAnn, Eddie, Ted, Manny and the rest of the staff there. They are wonderful with the kids.

WE are glad OKW is our home and we look forward to returning...........only on a top floor!! Two years in a row on a bottom floor is enough for me!!! LOL!!

Sounds like you had a great time at Disney except for the herd of tiny elephants

Do you think it tends to be more crowded on the weekend at VB? My kids like the beach, but they would probably like it better on the front or back end of a trip.

Glad you didn't get caught by Charley, sounds like he is headed straight for Orlando about 9:30pm

We were reluctant to use the beach as a good friend of ours Dad drowned in a rip tide just south of Vero earlier this year.

I don't know if it is more crowded on weekends or not. It was full to capacity that weekend.

I guess we could have moved peoples towels and clothing to accomodate us but didnt' want a hassle if they returned and were upset. We chose to leave..................

We spent a week at Vero in May -- we avoided the pool on the weekend (Mother's Day) ... the hotel was full and it was just too crazy for us. Also, they have a DJ at the pool weekends which also draws a crowd.

Glad you had a great trip despite the aggrevations of the VB Pool and the OKW GV.

I know exactly what you mean by that one - we were under one last March during Spring Break when it was occupied with a family with a few young'uns and some college kids. Unbearable! At least ours didn't go on thru the night like yours did.

Rosemary: We were under a grand villa in June and couldn't believe how loud the people above were. We had stayed on a 1st and 2nd floor before and had no problem. I think after June though we may request top floor. Dh just hates lugging the suitcases up to the top.Thank you for posting.
