We just got back from our 1st trip home to BLT. We had a wonderful time and loved the convenience of BLT!!

This has probably been posted in the past, but in case anyone missed it, we wanted to make sure everyone was aware of the AP discounts throughout the WDW resort. We have Premium APs and were entitled to 20% off of merchandise in any store on property (regular AP gets 10%). This included every merchandise store at the parks, at DTD, and at the resorts. We also purchased Entenmann's cookes at the merchandise store which also sells food at the Contemporary and they gave us 20% off the cookies. There may be some limitations - for example, a cast member told us Walt Disney Classic Collection merchandise is excluded from the discount. Just make sure you ask about the discount. We thought this promotion had expired and did not realize it had been extended. We overheard another guest asking a cast member about the discount, so that is how we found out. A cast member at the MK fire station told us this promotion has been extended to 9/30 (other cast members we asked could not confirm this).

As a side note on discounts, we also knew from a past trip that Universal Studios offers a 10% AAA discount on food if you show your AAA card (not sure of the exact policy, but we got the 10% off at a counter service restaurant and an ice cream place).

Also, while driving on the road to BLT in the early evening, we noticed cops were staked out looking for speeders. The cops were on the road that you take to the Contemporary after you pass through the MK toll booths. The posted speed limit on that road varies between 30-35, so be careful. It looked like they were pulling over 2-3 cars at a time. We tried to stay behind the buses b/c they typically go the speed limit. We remember reading about this a few years ago.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask us.

Merchandise discounts at Disney are the "Best Kept Secret". We have a horrible time getting CM's to agree on the current policies. We contacted Disney Parks and Resorts for a clarification and they didn't know the answer either. :sad2:

The AP discount is posted on the AP website. I would suggest folks print the page if going to WDW.

That area has been a speed trap for at least a few years and I noticed a lot more cop cars over there early in the mornings.

Interesting, that is very solidly on Disney property. I am surprised that Disney would allow this as getting a ticket would very seriously dampen visitors opinion of their time at Disney plus that is $200 you no longer have to spend at DW... So they are in effect taking money out of the Disney coffers...

My guess is it's set up more to catch CM's speeding on their way to work. I could be wrong (as I'm not sure if that's a main road for CM's).

I want to add that I happen to live in a touristy area. One of our major speed traps is on a road that leads to the quickest bridge to the beach. They catch tourists all the time - as well as locals.

I'm glad WDW has done something about the crazies driving like it's the WDW 500 out there:scared1:

they can't come on Disney property with Disney permission. but a couple of years they gave blank permission.

they use to say not to the CM = but since alot of the CM were the cause of accidents with tourist they changed their policy.

now everyone can get a ticket. Saw last year a bus pulled over.....:rolleyes1

We saw a orange country sheriff pull over a bus in 2007. It was strange. We guessed we was going to slow LOL

We've seen the speed traps over by AK as well.
