Just back from BC... I swear this happened to me!

What a wonderful trip!:cloud9: You are so lucky! I never have those things happen to me either. Glad you got to have such an enjoyable anniversary.

Ok, so I have often had the feeling, “I can’t believe this is happening to me…” :sad2: But this time, I kept saying to myself, “I can’t believe this is happening to me!!!!” :cool1: To start at the beginning, I originally booked a bunk bed room at WL, and when the Visa codes came out, I called CRO and of course the first CM I spoke to said I could not use the code. So I called back, and the next CM said I could not use the code at WL, but I could get a standard room at BC for $400 less!! :thumbsup2 I debated for a moment because my boys are 4 and 6, and prefer the MK over everything else, and plus they loved the lodge last time. But in the end, I switched because I had always wanted to stay there, and never thought I would be able to afford it. For $400 less, the boys could bus it to MK, and enjoy SAB.
So, our flight lands at 10:30 pm on Friday night, and all goes well with ME and we arrive at BC at about 11:15. We looked like something the cat dragged in as we all had been up and on the go since 6 am, and I figured we would be getting a dumpster view since we were checking in so late. The lobby was very quiet, and there were two college intern girls at the check in desk. I gave one my name and the first thing she said was, “You have been complimentary upgraded to concierge level!” I was speechless. All I could manage to say was, “Wow. Thanks.” My husband didn’t even understand what that meant. She also handed me a long stem rose, special gold keys to the world, and buttons that said Happy Anniversary. Now, we went to WDW for our honeymoon, and our 5th anniversary, and got nothing special. It is just our 7th anniversary this year, and I don’t even remember letting anyone know. All of the concierge staff was gone for the night, so we did not get escorted to our room, and the lounge was closed.
Our room was 5635 and overlooked the back entrance to the lobby. We had a beautiful view of SB and the windmill. It was so beautiful at night. We had full balcony, but no daybed which was fine by us. We got towel animals every day, and turn down service with chocolate every night. The room was in excellent repair, and always impeccably clean. On the second night, we had a message from private dining on our phone. They had a delivery for us. It was champagne and chocolate covered strawberries with “Happy Anniversary” written in chocolate, and the plate was dusted in gold! I definitely felt like I was on somebody else’s vacation! Nothing like this has ever happened to me before!
I can’t say enough nice things about the BC, and will post more when I have time. But right now we are drowning in dirty laundry.:laundy: I will be happy to answer any questions.

Wow, What a nice trip and Happy 7th Anniversary. Many more years to come.

ahhh! Congratulations! That was so nice! Glad you received some pixie dust!

Congrats! Same thing happened to DH and I in 2005. EXACT same thing. Same room too! Wasn't it terrific? We were on our honeymoon and had booked 5 nights at BC in a standard view room. Shortly before our arrival date I got a letter stating I owed more money on my trip (which had been paid in full). I called CRO and after some searching, panicking and research, I got a phone call back from a CM stating that it was just a computer glitch because the booking CM when I made the ressie had upgraded us to a 5th floor water view room and it somehow got put through as a request I made though it was complimentary...I was relieved but puzzled since I had heard the 5th floor was entirely concierge. I kept the secret from DH until we arrived and checked in.

At the front desk the CM's made aHUGE fuss over us for our honeymoon and ushered us up to the 5th floor. DH was floored that we had gotten concierge upgrades! I swear we were like the Beverly Hill Billies though..."well lookey there! they's got free eats!" (seriously though, we were like kids in a candy store).

The room had a view that was spectacular. So far, second only to the view from our Tower MK view at CR the night before. All in all though I would NEVER pay for concierge. Service just wasn't worth it for the cost. The staff was friendly but useless as far as getting us extra ADR's or anything. I also went to the concierge desk to request a wheelchair when I pulled the ligamewnts in my ankle so badly I couldn't walk. They told me to go downstairs to the guest services desk to get one. Thanks...

Congratulations and Happy Anniversary!!!
Thanks for the detailed description of the concierge snacks. I have always wondered what they offered and if it was worth the extra cost.
I'm glad you enjoyed BC. We loved it too. On one of our rainy days we saw lifeguards (SAB was closed due to weather) standing at the doors handing out towels and wrapping up little ones when they came in the cold lobby. My husband was blown away, he thought it was so classy. That's his favorite story to tell about the BC.

Wow! What a coincidence! It was a great view, wasn't it? I always thought concierge at a deluxe, would be sort of... posh? exclusive? That was not our experience. I don't know, but the way my boys ran from elevator to the room, I kept telling my husband we weren't going to upgraded again anytime soon! It did seem like some what of a free for all, and I had a hard time keeping my hands off those Krispy Kreme doughnuts!

It seems like we had the exact same experience, because although the staff was very nice, I never saw them successfully go that extra mile for anyone.
