Just back from Barcelona

Fabulous photos and mini guide! :thumbsup2

Our Barcelona trip a couple of weeks ago was cancelled because of the snow (flight cancelled), so we've re-booked for October. This thread has given me a lot more insight than any of the guidebooks I've been reading! Thanks :)

Hi MorningGlory

Many thanks for showing your photos and it was good to see it.

We are going to Barcelona for 3 nights in July before Disney Cruise and wonder if you have been in Chocolate Museum? Is it worthing to visit it or not? As we are thinking to go to see Magic Fountain of Montjuic on Sunday night.

(We are 2 adults and 2 children of 10 and 7.) Never been Barcelona before!

Looking forward to.

Its really appreciated.

IM going to link this thread with our med cruise thread so they can share the info :goodvibes
Your more than welcome Helen :thumbsup2

Sorry I didnt post more pics last night, ended up getting sidetracked :rolleyes: Anyway, I will definitely get them up later tonight. Some of them are similiar to those already posted, but are worth seeing anyway I think :)

@ Hilary: Thanks :) Good to know im able to help someone out - since my first trip to Disney is just coming up, I have only been receiving help so far on here ;)

@ Scottishwee: I haven't been to the Chocolate Museum unfortunately. I didnt know it existed, or I surely would have ;) It sounds great anyway (how can it not be?) so I would definitely go for it! However, about the Magic Fountains, I can give a definite seal of approval :thumbsup2 It really has to be seen to be believed.

Hope yous all have a great time :thumbsup2

Thanks for the pics and link. I am going for the first time in june for the dcl cruise and it looks amazing...i can't wait!

Some more pics :)

Another pic of the fountain in Placa Catalunya. The street facing is Passeig de Gracia.

The entrance to the Boqueria Market just off the Ramblas, probably the most famous market in Barcelona.

This photo kind of caught my eye. Taken from the Ramblas looking into one of the side streets on the left hand side (Gothic Quarter). I liked the contrast between the old and new :)

A pic taken from the north end of the Placa Reial, just off the Ramblas. Lovely for relaxing in the afternoon with a cold drink.
DSCF0027.jpg

An example of one of the many caricature artists work that adorns the lower end of the Ramblas, near the monument to Columbus. In case you dont recognise, the 2 central figures are Frank Rijkard (manager) and Ronaldinho, of FC Barcelona :)

Some examples from a classic street artist in the same part of the Ramblas. It is hard to believe that these are paintings, but they are. Needless to say, they will paint anyone, in person or from a photo, for a fee. I havent had it done myself, but I seen 2 friends getting caricatures done of themselves and it only cost them €15, which seemed very reasonable to me.

Some more views from the top of Tibidabo (I love scenic views, there is so much to actually look at).
This is facing Southwest;

This is facing to the north of Barcelona, towards the town of Badalona;

A decent view of Sagrada Familia, and the impressive (but unfortunately shaped lol) building in the background, which is lit up at night in the colours of FC Barca.

Finally, a photo taken from my friend's aunt's house just to the north of Barcelona (I cant remember the name of the town). The photo is taken just to the side of the house, and the view from the front window of the house, which covers the whole of the wall facing the opposing hillside as well as about 6 feet of the side walls, is unbelievable! This photo doesnt do it justice, I wish I had taken one from inside the living room.

Hope you enjoyed them :)

Great picture- can't wait for Barcelona now. Which part of the city did you stay in?

Brilliant photos, thanks for sharing them :)

I LOVE that painting/drawing of Russell Crowe :cloud9: I doubt DH would want it hanging anywhere in the house though :lmao:

Thanks so much for the photos - im really looking forward to July :goodvibes

Looks amazing. I'll have to add it to my list of places I'd like to go! Thanks for posting :)

I stayed in my friend's flat in an area called Putxet, near Parc Guell. It was great, you could walk downhill all the way to the port area no problem, although I used to end up taking a taxi or metro back up again - its a long walk when your going uphill :)
