We could NOT have had a more fun trip!

We stayed in connecting rooms 5507 and 5509 on the Zebra trail facing Arusha Rock. Our room had 2 queens and a chair, my IL's room had a queen bed, bunk beds (which my SIL said were very comfy), and a day bed.

Highlights of our trip include the Sunrise Safari, Wanyama (Sunset) Safari, MVMCP on Thursday, Hoop-Dee-Doo, my 15 year old SIL being "airplaned" her green beans at 50's Prime Time (that still cracks me up), the "volcano" at Mitsukoshi tempura dining (did I say that right?), and being stalked by an ostrich on the Wanyama. hehehe

All in all...a great trip...I thought my MIL wasn't going to like AKL...she had her heart set on the GF...but by the 3rd day all she kept saying was "I'm coming back here next time, I love this place!". :) Another one convinced!

Oh - and for those of you staying at AKL soon - take the Hidden Mickey Safari (heheh - we got the sheet from concierge, but I'm sure you can get it at the front desk)...it was a blast!

Any questions, let me know!

Hi,

Glad you had another great stay. Tom and I will be back at the AKL in a few weeks. Another end of Jan trip for us. We are not doing Concierge this time as the rate went up to $385 a night inc tax from this years price of $277 a night inc tax this is with the AP rate of course.

Glad you had a great trip and the picture of your dog it too cute.

I know! The rates are outrageous for next January! I know DH has booked us a few nights down there in january (yes - in like 5 weeks! hehehe) but we're going to stay at FW for a few days too...how's that for a change in venue! hehehe

Thanks Tiffany - enjoy your stay...maybe we'll see you!

thank you for the thread on AKL. Everyday I read more and more comments about AKL and am getting really excited about my trip. I have never stayed at a deluxe at DW, only moderates and values. I have booked standard parking lot view and have no regrets. Thanks for the note on the HIDDEN MICKEY Safari, I did not know that there was anything like that available. I intend to spend my six days at AKL relaxing, pin trading, Hidden Mickey finding, splashing in the pool and working out the in fitness facility: a real vacation. good thing I am spending 10days at POP before AKL to get ready for this. :3dglasses :3dglasses :Pinkbounc :wizard: :cool1:

good thing you are staying at POP BEFORE AKL....you wouldn't want to go back to POP after AKL! hehehe

Thanks for the great report! Every time I read these I get homesick! I know you guys feel the same way!

I'm hoping for an AP concierge rate to come out for our upcoming stay at AKL. But, I'll be happy just to be staying there either way.... Looking forward to the Hidden Mickey Safari!

Sound great! We are thinking about staying there and wonder whether you felt like a family of five would have enough room to be comfortable for a week. Is there a refrigerator or coffee maker? Did you have a nice view of the animals, and oh yes...what was the pool like?

hmmm...well, the room my IL's had had a queen bed, bunk beds, and a day bed. seems like 5 would fit in there. (mind you - we were concierge, so our rooms were a smidge bigger...rooms on the 5/6th floors are bigger than those on the lower floors.

our room had a fridge - not sure if ALL rooms have fridges, but concierge rooms do

you can request a coffee maker no problem

we had a savannah view...but there are SO MANY places to view animals around the lodge that i really wouldn't worry about it.

The pool is awesome, big, zero entry, slide (not like SAB though), and 2 hot tubs.

Now you tell me about the Hidden Mickey Safari after we left:(. :cool1: Oh well we can save that for the next time we go back to AKL :smooth:.
