We just returned from a terrific trip to California. We flew into San Diego (from Philadelphia), drove to LA and stayed in Disney's Grand Californian for five nights. We did DL and CA, Universal, walked through Hollywood, drove along Mulholland Drive and went to the Jay Leno show. Then we drove along the coast to San Diego and stayed in the Hotel del Coronado for 3 nights. We did the zoo, took a tour of San Diego State University for DS, the Old Town Trolly Tour, Seaport Village, Gaslamp District, Horton's Plaza........

Wonderful trip. If you have any questions, please ask.

This trip sounds a lot like what we did on ours when we went to DL, except for the staying at the Grand California and seeing Jay Leno. Sounds like you had a great time. How did you get to see the Jay Leno show? Did you get the tix then or ahead of time? If so, where? :wizard:

My husband requested tickets for a show during the time frame we would be there. We actually forgot about it and the tickets arrived about 3 days before we were to fly out. The tickets we received only allowed us to get in line for any left over seats on Tuesday June 19. We planned on getting there early and lining up and hoping for the best.

Well, on Sunday June 17, we went to Universal Studios. During the backlot tour, they announced that they had Jay Leno tickets. We decided to see what kind of tickets these were for and they were guaranteed seats and we had the choice of Tuesday or Wednesday. We took these and went Wednesday instead because we wanted to see Samuel L Jackson.

It was a lot of fun.

How far is the Hotel del Coronado from Sea World and the Zoo. How did you like it?

Was there a minimum age limit to seeing the Jay Leno show, Karen, do you remember?

We're planning a So. California trip for next spring, at that time my kids will be 10 and 13.....are they too young to see live studio tapings? It doesn't have to be Jay Leno....but I thought I remember reading kids must be 16?

It depends on the show. Leno I know is at least 16. To get a general idea, you can check ocatv.com or audiencesunlimited.com. They are both places where you can get tickets. They will tell you the age limit on the shows they have.

How far is the Hotel del Coronado from Sea World and the Zoo. How did you like it?

My grandparents live on Coronado (besides the Naval Base, it's not that big), and it's about 15 mins to the Zoo and 20 to Sea World. Rush hour would of course make this a bit longer, but it gives you a general idea.
