Just returned from an amazing Flower and Garden trip! I had started a Live from OKW thread last week, but it didn't quite go as planned, as we bought a new Netbook a few days before, and it was giving me problems, so I couldn't update, nor add photos like I wanted to, so here you go!
We absolutely loved OKW!!! We have fallen in love with the rooms, location and resort itself. We were in Old Turtle Pond section, Villa 3321 - 1 bedroom. We have always liked Olivia's too, and we had another great meal there as well. We also loved getting our APs at the resort, as the line ups at the parks for tickets were huge all week. This also allowed us to pick up a few things in the gift shop right away using our AP discount - very convenient!!!!
Our last trip to OKW was for a few days in the middle of a huge split stay, and it rained a lot, so we couldn't use the balcony or go swimming, so we didn't have a great stay. Loved the room though - those rooms are the best! So, we knew that we wanted to give the resort another try, and we are so glad we did. It is a heavenly!
We also changed up our eating habits this trip, as we are used to eating 2-3 TS meals per day. We absolutely loved eating breakfast and dinner in our villa each day. We ate dinner every night on the balcony, and it was a little slice of heaven! Kids absolutely loved it out there watching the wildlife and golfers.
This trip so made up for it, and we now know why OKW is so beloved by so many DISers.
A few minor problems:
1. No trash and towel - the night before check out, I realized that we were missed because we forgot to take the privacy sign off of our door as we had slept in that morning. When I called, they told me we should have had it 2 days prior, and she didn't really offer anything else as she said we were checking out the next morning. I inquired as to why weren't called, as this has happened at Saratoga before, and they called us to tell us they missed us, and could they bring us up anything? The CM gave me a sarcastic attitude about them not calling guests, and at that point, she asked if we needed anything? I told her we had already washed our own linens and thrown out garbage, but needed new dishwasher soap and they brought it right up. This is still bothering me, so not sure if this is how it's done at OKW?
2. Recycling - don't like how recycling is set up here. We misunderstood the instruction card that they leave on the counter, and didn't realize until morning of checkout, that we had to remove labels, wash items and carry downstairs to a separate room. The room was locked, so we left a note in our villa. This takes up a lot of precious time, so not sure why they don't leave a recycling container in the villa like the other resorts do?
3. Broken garbage disposal - I got a call from engineering that we had reported a broken disposal. We had not, so I assumed it was the prior members, and wanted to go and check it, but the engineer convinced me not to bother. I wish we had, because we then needed to use it, and of course, it didn't work.
We called and reported it once again, so hopefully they fix it soon.
All in all, we had a great trip, and can't wait to stay at OKW again. We currently have BLT booked for a few days before our long stay at AKV in the summer, and we are considering switching that to OKW. Kids are asking when we are going back to our Disney home at OKW!
