DD11 has celiac and we just got home from a nice long trip to the World. We ate a LOT so feel free to ask any questions you migt have about GF food. Everything was wonderfully perfect except the Marketplace at the Beach Club.

We ate at:
Beaches and Cream
Boma
Kouzzina
50's Prime Time
Ohana
Flower and Garden kiosks (almost all of them!)
Columbia Harbor House
Mexico QS
QS at Beach Club
Hurrican Hannahs
Be Our Guest
Sunshine Seasons
AK QS

Wow...we ate a lot!

They were good WRT cross contact and different prep areas? Changing gloves and using fresh pans? Any must haves? We deal with more than gluten free but any bit helps!

I'd love to know more about your experience at Ohana? Did they have to bring out meat specifically for GF or could your DS still eat off some of what they bring around to everyone?

What happened at the Marketplace?

The Marketplace has changed their policy. We used to get the allergen-free Mickey waffles there for breakfast. They would call the order into Cape May and then bring it over to the Marketplace. They will no longer do this. I completely understand not being able to send someone over to pickup the order. It seems in discussing this with the chef and manager that there is some tension about the issue. Nothing terrible...just a bit disappointing (she LOVES those waffles). The manager said they switched their policy a few months ago.

At Ohana's all the meat is GF. The chef brought out special wings, bread, rice (instead of noodles), and veggies but other than that she could eat everything as they brought it around. Oh, and one of the sauces has soy sauce in it but the other sauce is fine. She LOVED the meats...especially the shrimp.

I'd also like to hear about Columbia Harbor House if you don't mind! I've heard so many good things and we really want to try it out this year!

It was great! As is typical at all the QS places the manager comes out and takes the allergy order. My daughter got the allergen-free chicken tenders, french fries, and steamed broc. It went very smoothly...the manager brought out her food on a separate tray. She always says that Columbia Harbor house has the best chicken tenders...she eats a full adult portion!

What was the favorite GF dessert of the trip?

Not sure when you are going but her favorite desserts were all at the Flower and Garden Show.

She loved the candied strawberries in China, the macaron in France, and the Frushi in Japan.

My sons with Celiac are also vegetarian...do you think there will be a problem finding food for a week that isn't just a pattern of GF pizza, fries, brownies, and ice cream? We have been to WDW before and I am a research guru so I feel fairly confident we'll be okay, but we haven't been since my older son was diagnosed eight years ago.

Hello,

Can you please describe the the macaron in France from the Flower and Garden Festival? I'm really interested in this. Can you also describe how you ordered? Did they show you the ingredients or handle your order differently?

Thanks,
Robert

Yes I'm interested in learning more about food at the flower and garden festival. Is there is list that shows what food is safe? I'd love to try these out!
