Hiya!

A great week at WDW and fun times on the DDP. The only ones we had trouble using were the CS because ... well ... we don't really like CS. So we'd end up eating at a TS ... paying OOP and saving the CS for later. We only had 6CS left depature day and they let me get two snack items plus a drink for them ... so I got chips and Mickey Head krispies and drinks for us all as a snack in the car on the way home.

Sharing - Honestly ... we didn't share much because no one wanted to share. Once at the MSBakery ... we split 3 credits between 5 of us. Then I think we all kind of shared by default at Alfredo's ... long story ... but we all ordered Alfredo and I think she forgot my DS age 7 wanted it too ... and she ended up giving him some of all of ours. (She didn't charge us a TSC credit that meal).

FAQ - Was not being passed out with the DDP brochure.

Paying OOP for a Child - We did this in one instance at the PTCafe because my DS (7) didn't want anything off the kids menu. He wanted a grilled chicken sandwich off the Adult Menu. I asked the server if we could pay OOP for his adult meal and save his for later. She said "sure" and even worked the bill around to put his shake on someone elses meal so we didnt' have to pay for it OOP.

Service - For the most part our service was fine. A few outstanding ... others were just fine. Only bad service was at Alfredo's (her helper person was great) ... but I don't hold it against her as I just think she was overwhelmed as she was running her little fanny off!

Snacks - Not confusing at all for the most part everything was nice and marked. We enjoyed Dole Whips, Frozen Lemonade, Candied Almonds and more. TIP - If something is not marked ask them to try it ... they didn't think I could get the large thing of Milk at the CR gift shop ... but she said "well let me try it ... and it went though!"

Too much food? Hmmm ... well I think we could have shared ... but no one wanted to. We ate quite a few meals OOP too ... room service 2x, pizza 1x and two breakfasts. We didn't eat everything though ... so like we may have left 1/2 eaten desserts or something like that. The driving force behind all this eating was mostly my husband ("I must have a real breakfast!") who was constantly hungry this trip. If not for him ... we wouldn't have eaten OOP so much.

OK ... so we were happy with the DDP. For the most part got what we wanted ... paid OOP for what we couldn't get ... and had a great time.

Any questions?

This is my husband as well! DS and I would be happy with a donut on the run, but DH thinks vacation breakfast means bacon, sausage, eggs, homefries, biscuit, etc...etc...etc... I told him his breakfast needs were cutting into our park time.

What were your best meal experiences? Did you do any character meals?

sounds great!! you do what we do, eat what we want and simply pay for what's not covered (thank heaven's for disney visa rewards! LOL!)

just a note about the pizza... when we stayed at POFQ last year for free dining we were able to order a 16" pizza, 2 salads, 2 drinks and 2 desserts all for only two CS credits... imo it was the best credit bargain on property! fed the four of us dinner w/leftover pizza for breakfast! and got those big ice cream/cookie sandwiches for our desserts which are easily shareable due to their size!

My first thought is, why did you take my dh with you on your vacation? While the rest of us ate cereal bars while waiting for the bus at 7 am, my dh used one CS meal for his breakfast nearly every day of our trip! And it was usually at 10:45 am--he managed to get out of bed and skate in just before they stopped serving breakfast.

I can't agree with your assessment and philosophy more. We, too, could have shared credits, but we wanted to try all the different foods, so we ended up using 4 TS credits for every meal. In fact we did "share" meals, but it was more like, "gimme a bite of that chocolate cake" or "you have to try this creme brulee." And we, too, said we'd just get what we wanted and if we ran out of credits, then we'd just pay OOP and not sweat it and enjoy ourselves. And that's what we did! Glad you had fun, too!

We asked about this during our free dining stay last month, and they wouldn't allow us to do it. Of course, someone else may get a different answer next week, or from a different CM.

bummer about not being permitted to do the pizza thing... i'm sure it's a matter of "interpretation" and timing! LOL!

Best meal - California Grill ... hands down. Well, well, well worth the two credits each and it wasa good value (contrary to what I thought) to use the two credits. We were not going to until we got the bill and realized that our two meals added up to other meals we had had with all five of us! So we used the 4 TS and didn't regret it one bit!

Best Character Meal - Ohana's breakfast ... this was a last minute addition on departure day and my kids gave up Chef Mickey's for it since they wanted to see Stitch. (My DS 7 decided Stich was his favorite the 2nd day of the trip.) OMG! The characters here were great and Stitch had us ROLLING! My Niece (15) told him we didn't ride his ride because "we" said it was boring ... stiches reaction was sooo funny. I about peed my pants. I have it on tape so maybe someday I can figure out how to post the video.

The food was also good.
