:wave2: Hello everyone!

Arrived back from Orlando a few days ago and have just managed to get online! Holiday was fantastic and I wish i was still there. :goodvibes

Just wanted to say thank you for all the goodbye wishes and again for all the help for the trip. I will attempt to write a trip report- took a lot of photos including those of food (we were on the dining plan and it was great!) but am happy to answer any questions til then!

Mini summary:
Holiday was just myself and dbf. We were both new to New york and dbf was new to disney.
We spent 4 nights in New York June 18-June 22nd.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Midtown Manhatten- really good location 5 min walk to times square, 15 min to central park. Included was free internet and computer access and breakfast, which was a bonus. We used the New York pass which gave us 2 days of unlimited access to over 40 of New York attractions and combined this with a 2 day hop-on hop-off greyline sightseeing bus pass. We saw the main sights- central park, a few museums, statue of liberty (took the 'beast' fast speedboat ride which was so much fun and felt great having the wind blowing in your face as it was over 95F when we were there!) the rockefeller centre, empire state (we were disappointed with the empire state as it was extremely busy, even at 10pm and we were hoping for a romantic evening looking at the view. We preferred Top of Rock, which was empty in comparison and we preferred the views).

We then spent 10 nights at Pop Century june 22- july 2nd.
I have never stayed onsite before and am a complete convert!. Our room was in the 60s building on the 4th floor facing the hippy dippy pool (is that a preferred building? we didnt pay for preferred-were we lucky and got upgraded?). We followed Tour GuideMikes plans and we never waited longer than 20 minutes for any rides, I was amazed, as I had been a little sceptical and I know we were there at a busy time. Everyone was extremely helpful and happy and without sounding cheesy, we really did have a magical time at Disney!
Highlights were seeing wishes and eating dinner in the Castle. Despite the negative reviews, we really enjoyed eating in the castle and we are two adults in our twenties! We were also on the dining plan and we really enjoyed eating at new places every night. We loved Boma at AKL!

We then stayed 4 nights at the Hard Rock Hotel Universal. Hotel is lovely but I felt that it lacked some of the fun that Pop had (I can't believe i preferred Pop to a 5 star hotel!!). We enjoyed the front of the line passes at the parks and did Men in Black 3 times in a row! We also saw the 4th July fireworks from inside Islands of Adventure and they were stunning- the sky was covered in fireworks.
On the downside, we encountered a lot of rude people in Universal- Staff seemed bored and unhelpful and a lot of guests were cutting lines and being nasty to staff. We also preferred the rides, themeing and the atmosphere at disney. We enjoyed our stay at Universal and we're glad we have been there, but we both agreed that next time we would rather spend the money on extending our stay at disney.
We also went to Seaworld, Kennedy Space Centre and went shopping!

Hmmm sorry that was a bit longer than I thought it would be! Hope thats helpful for someone. Feel free to ask any questions! :grouphug:
