We got back on Wed from our trip. A few thoughts below.
WWoHP was magical as always. We got to do a few things that we haven't in the past which was nice (kids actually went into Bourgin and Burkes). There are a few things that someday we'll do like listen to the ministry of magic message in the phone booth. Didn't have a chance this trip. DD8 was chosen for the Ollivander show. DD10 was the one who wanted to do it and negotiated with us to get another wand so we were hoping she would get chosen. Nope. Oh well, it is the way of things. DD8 had the robes on and a splint on her wrist so that's probably why she got attention.
DH and DS went on Fast and Furious. I read somewhere here that 5 year old boys like it. Since my DS6 loves the Jimmy Fallon ride, we thought, well maybe. DH took him and they both hated it. Bad, bad. Waste of time, said DH.
Did I mention my kids love Jimmy Fallon? Six times in 4 park days. I think I know it by eart (h's are eh!). Thankfully I don't dislike it.
We had good meals at Jake's, Confisco, Mythos, and Toothsome. My favorite was the grilled cheese in the tomato soup at Mythos. That was fun. My DD10 declared that Universal restaurants have much better presentation then Disney.
The Holiday parade was beautiful. We saw the Christmas projection show twice at Hogsmeade. The later shows are still the way to go. Much less crowded. The last one was right at park close and we could pick our spot for that one. Afterward we hung around for half an hour doing spells and checking out the windows which was awesome. We left before the sweep started. The next night in Diagon Alley they started pushing people out 15 mins after close though. So your ability to hang around seems to be a bit variable.
They have started having more regular crafts and games for kids at the pool at RPR which was nice. Our kids won smoothies from Bula. The woman doing the activities was really nice too.
Weather was great. No one got sick. Thanks everyone here for answering questions. It's so helpful even though we've been before.
