Just got back home this afternoon. The lodge was really amazing! Absolutely beautiful Christmas decorations. We had booked a standard view, so I was expecting a room on the 4th, 5th, or 6th floor. Right away I knew something was up when the CM at guest check-in said our room number was 1159. The non-smoking room was on the first floor and had a view of the pool, king bed & walk-in shower. We were thrilled!!! I have nothing but good things to say about the WL and the CM's, except......I woke up in the middle of our first night with really bad allergy problems, coughing, and asthma. It cleared up after getting up in the morning and being out in the parks. However, each night, after going to bed, the same thing would happen again. I didn't have any problems being in the room, it only happened once I got into bed. It got progressively worse until I ended up spending the night in the lobby. I talked to the front desk at about 4 a.m. & they thought maybe it had something to do with the mattress & were able to get us into another room...2nd floor, pool/geyser/lake view with a king bed (room #2125). Well, that night the same thing happened & I ended up spending the rest of my nights sleeping in the chairs on the balcony (or, I should say, TRYING to sleep). It was cold & uncomfortable, to say the least. We think the problems might be the detergent and/or odor masking products being used on the linens and mattreses. Several CM's we talked to thought this might be the case. Soooo...the next time I go to the WL, and just to be safe, any other WDW resort, I will be taking my own linens and pillows. Hopefully, I won't have a repeat of this experience. I came home today sore & exhausted & with bronchitis. Contrary to reports we had read about poor transportation at WL, we were very pleased with the busses and the boat. Never waited long & never had to stand on a bus. We also ate at Whispering Canyon & really enjoyed it. Our DS loved the pony ride. We ate at Artist Point last night & had a wonderful, quiet meal (DS was slleping in his stroller). I had the buffalo steak and DH had the beef tenderloin--both were excellent. Also had the cappuccino creme brule--YUM! Roaring Forks was a bit of a disappointment during the breakfast hours. We got there once at 9:30 am & once at 10:00 am & both times they were out of bacon & eggs and were not making any more, even though breakfast is supposed to be served till 11:00am.
Overall though, it was a great trip...just wish I could get rid of this cough...
