Hi!
We'll probably do a trip report later but here are our thoughts. We are three - mom and dad in their late 30's, early 40's and our 12 year old daughter. We are frequent Disney visitors - 30+ trips taken in the last ten years or so.
The good:
- Pop Century was way, way better than we expected. We had stayed there for a night here and there but this was our first prolonged stay and it was really, really neat. We loved our room. We loved the food court and the store. Buses were plentiful and we never stood up even with spring break crowds.
- Disney is still Disney - completely, utterly magical.
- We didn't have a bad meal all trip. Our favorites? Crystal Palace for breakfast, Boma for dinner, Kona for a quiet breakfast on our last day, Yak and Yeti, and Yakitori in Japan (twice).
- We spent much of the vacation with close friends vacationing at the same time and it couldn't have been any better. It was great to be with people you love at the place you love.
- Soaring. The Flower and Garden Festival. Watching our 12 year conquer Big Thunder Mountain for the first time. A quiet breakfast at the MK one busy morning. An early morning safari with a guide who loved his job. The Lion King Show. The kids playing with a beach ball with a great castmember before the P&P party parade. Wonderful moment after wonderful moment.
- IKEA. We love IKEA and are glad Orlando has one now. It (and the cafeteria inside) have replaced Sweet Tomatoes as our must-do offsite excursion. We went twice and loved everything but the confusing layout both times.
The not so good -
- Riding a contract bus from Pop to the MK one morning. When I'm at Disney I want Disney buses not Florida Tours. Not cool and happening more and more.
- Spring break crowds although we zigged when they zagged and were fine.
- One unfriendly castmember at the MK who had something to say when I said I didn't need a times guide.
- All Star Sports. We took one look and decided that the one night at All Star Sports just wasn't worh staying for. We headed home instead. It just wasn't for us and we were glad to get home.
- Disney cheaping out at the Pirate and Princess Party. Last time we received little black treasure bags. This time? Mardi Gras beads. The party was fine. Rain made all rides a walk-on but I was embarassed at how cheap the little gifts were. We had our friends there for their first party and it was just okay.
- Yak and Yeti didn't take the DDE card but they did take AP's so it was okay.
Again ... this was a fantastic trip. It cemented in our mind why we make Disney such a priority. We loved every minute.
