Just back- dining review with lots and lots of pics!

Thanks for the great reviews. A question about one of your meals: Was the chicken and ribs combo at Cosmic Ray's a single "Quick Service" item? Looked like a lot for one credit.

Thanks for your reviews! You gave my family some great ideas for CS dining.:goodvibes

Great reviews, thanks for taking the time to post. One thing that has stuck in my head is that the kids grilled cheese at Earl of Sandwich looks much smaller - IIRC, the kids sandwiches were always the same size as the adult ones. Is this another result of free dining, I wonder?

The sandwich was definitely smaller than the adult ones. It wasn't tiny by any measure, but it was smaller.

Our daughter is only 5 so it was plenty. I'm not sure how it would have been for a 9 year old that eats alot though.

On the dining plan you could use a snack credit and get something a little later if they were still hungry.

It is indeed one meal credit. It was in 07 and I thought it was a great deal then. I asked before I ordered it just to make sure it was still covered and I was good to go.

It is really hard to beat. There is literally a half a chicken, probably a quarter rack of ribs give or take, a small scoop of mashed potatoes and a decent amount of green beans, not to mention the dessert. I chose a chocolate cake which is actually kind of filling in itself.

Although the icing melted, I saved it and ate it for a snack later that night in the hotel room.

This is a $13+ dollar meal so I wouldn't have picked it if I was paying as I went because it was just too much food and cost more, but on the meal plan you couldn't beat it.

It is a great option if you are on the dining plan as long as they leave it on there.

I don't know if the economy had something to do with it or not. Maybe people who were on a really tight budget went anyway due to the 4/3 deal and are a little strapped when it comes to tips. I don't know about that one.

i never thought about it but I bet the pics do hurt the tips. You figure if you just forked out $100 for a meal and $30 for a pic, you might not be so willing or able to spend on the tip.

Personally i was kind of sweaty in all the pics so I didn't really want them, plus $30 is alot extra.

Seeing as how Disney already took the tips from these servers the last contract, I hate to think they are rippingthem off even more by selling the pics with money that would have went to the tip.

Considering what they make per meal, I think it would be great for everyone if they just put the tips back in the meal plan and just gave the pics. Even if you charged an extra few bucks/day on the meal plan it would help defray the costs and just have happier people who would be more likely to come back!

Everyone should send them an e-mail to address this! It might work.

LOL, I have a picture from last August from Chef Mickey's on my fridge. We are looking pretty "sweaty" also!!!:goodvibes

Great review I really enjoyed it. I do agree with you about the tips. I have a policy bad service no tip. You mention the tip you get less. Tips are optional I do belive in tipping but it is my choice and not the server to tell or remine me. I also use this policy for maid service. It use to be that the servers where never to ask for tips. Disney has gotten cheap with their help and this seems to be what is happening. I am sure Walt is turning in his grave if he could see what is happening. Don't get me wrong I love Disney but it is not the same as it was and people change.

Great reviews. I hope that someone talks to the servers because I can't stand when they do that. I will be going with 6 others so they will get 18% deserved or not.

You know what... I totally forgot to leave a tip for the lady who cleaned our room. I feel really bad now because she was really cool and kept putting our daughter's stuffed animals in surprise positions and such... really neat!

I feel bad!

I'll have to make up for it the next time.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review and pics! We are going to many of the same restaurants in October, so it's nice to read about!
Sounds like you had a great trip.

For kids you can't beat these character meals.

Like I said, next trip we will probably not do the Play-N-Dine breakfast just because of the age.

We may add Boma or Le Cellier if we can.

I went into our 2007 trip and have some pics from restaurants we didn't see this time! These are from Whispering Canyon Cafe...

Here is the chicken wing appetizer:
