We just got back from two nights at WDW (spent the first 6 nights at Vero Beach)... our biggest challenge for such a short stay was where to eat.... so many options. We love California Grill so we made a priority seating for our last night, Thursday. For Wednesday night, we decided to "go with the flow". We tried to eat at Japan, but it was getting late and the wait was too long for us. We went to Morroco and were seated immediately at Marrakesh. We were not disappointed -- I had the Marrakesh Feast and DH had the Sultan's feast. I thought the lemon chicken was much better this time than I remembered from the past. Everything was fabulous and the service was great. At the end of the meal the servers got confused and ended up serving us dessert twice. We tried to decline, but they said they couldn't return them and to please enjoy ... so we did!!

California Grill has become our traditional "last night" place and it was great. DH and I actually ordered the same thing. We shared the portabello flatbread -- it was fabulous. Then we had salad of hearts of romaine with rock shrimp in green goddess dressing. It was a nice change from a caesar dressing and the shrimp were great. Our entree was golden tilefish with mushroom risotto (can you tell we like mushrooms??). Fish was cooked to perfection, risotto was creamy and delicious.

Our only disappointment -- they no longer are serving souffles for dessert. We've enjoyed these so much in the past. It was hard to overcome, but DH tried the sorbet trio (mango was out of this world) and I had the citrus meringue tart. Both were beautifully presented and delicious. Service was excellent -- Raub was there when we needed something and very helpful with menu choices. A grand way to end our vacation ... now it's back to salads!!

Thanks for the post on Marrakesh - so few postings about the restaurant - made a PS there (was leaning) based on your feedback - I will write up a restaurant review on my return

Thanks again

Thanks for the great reviews. We are going to eat at both of these restaurants on our next trip. We will be at CG on my wifes birthday so that will be nice. We have never eaten at either of these places in the many times we have been to WDW.

Thanks for sharing your trip reports.

We ate at CG in March, and here I am looking for reviews so I can "relive" the memory. We had a window table and a great view of the fireworks, what a magic evening. My DH had the fish with risotto, and I had the amazing pork dish. The cheese flatbread was so good that DD took it over, we only got one piece! I do remember being slightly confused when ordering dessert, because I knew there was something everyone recommended and none of the choices sounded like it. What a shame, I love souffles! I guess we will have to go back to Palo on the Magic to get one! Diana

Scootert,

We have always thought about trying Marrakesh. Could you give some more details like serving size, not to miss trying items, etc?

Thanks!!!!!! I

I had the Marrakesh feast -- started out with a bowl of soup (very good) and a beef brewat (sp?) roll. It was sort of like an eggroll & contained seasoned beef. It was dusted with cinnamon and was also good.

The entree included a brochette of marinated beef filet and a quarter chicken. Both were delicious -- I had the same thing last year and thought the lemon chicken was much better this year. Maybe I was just hungrier this year. Couscous and roasted vegetables completed the entree.. also very good. Dessert was an assortment of four or five pastries -- all these were about two bites and just the right size.

You can also order entrees and sides from the menu, but, since we're not very experienced in this particular cuisine, we thought getting a variety of dishes would work better for us.

Hope this helps

Love to read reviews of CG, thanks! We've never tried Marrakesh. I like your approach to dining there.
