We got back yesterday from a quick weekend trip to DLR to celebrate DS's 16th birthday. The trip was a surprise as his birthday was just a few days before we left.
We flew into SNA from Sea Tac at 3pm on Saturday. After a quick cab ride to the Candy Cane Inn, we were in the park by 4pm. Crowds were pretty low on Saturday but increased on Sunday and Monday was very busy.
A few highlights:
-DS received a birthday button from a cast member at the pin shop in Frontierland and he wore it each day in the parks. We were truly amazed and touched by all the cast members (and other guests) who wished him happy birthday! He felt really special!
-I had just bought a yummy pumpkin muffin from the bakery at California Adventure to enjoy on our walk back to the hotel. As soon as I walked out of the bakery, the muffin broke through the bottom of the bag and plopped on the ground. A cast member happened to be walking by and asked if I had just bought the muffin. I answered that I had and she said, "well, we need to replace it!" She walked with me to the bakery and asked that it be replaced. The baker was more than happy to replace it and said that he was pleased that he could make a guest happy.
-We didn't spend a lot of time in our room at the Candy Cane but the room was quiet and clean. When we checked in, the clerk asked if we needed a ride back to the airport. We said we did and she arranged for a pickup at our designated time. Well, imagine my surprise when a towncar pulled up instead of a taxi. I asked the rate and he said $40, which was less than we paid for a taxi ride from SNA. It was a nice comfortable way to end the trip.
It was such a special trip - Just a mom and son
I know I won't soon forget it!
