Dh and I just returned from a week in WDW and we did use the DDP. Here's how we worked it. On the mornings when getting up and about wasn't a concern we'd have breakfast at Artist Pallete and that was a CS credit. If we got hungry in the parks (which surprisingly didn't happen too often) I'd pickup a pretzel or a rice krispey treat with a drink and that was fine! One afternoon we had Dole Whips and DH loved them; never had one.
Then on the days where we were up early, we ate lunch early and it was either at the Earl of Sandwich or someplace in the Park like Harbour House in MK and that was CS credits. Dinners were always TS and we did plan those out. We were very flexible this trip so there was some switching at the last minute but that was fine. I was surprised however at what a SC would get us at SSR. Boxes of Donuts, packages of English Muffins, these really big cookies...so snacks were not an issue. On the last day I had 4 SC's left and we packed up 4 rice krispey treats to bring home. DH and I do enjoy eating in WDW and we did sit down and think about past trips. This plan did save us money and we usually always have appetizers and desserts. And we didn't really have an issue sharing anything. At one point I was stuffed after dinner and DH ordered dessert. The Server automatically brought two dishes and two spoons. So all in all we were very pleased.

Glad it worked for you. It is good to hear about the snack credits too! Might be worth heading over to SSR to accumulate some snacks! ;)

Did you find any TS a better deal than others? Thanks again for your report. :goodvibes

Morning Kamy,

As far at TS meals go. We always eat a full service meal at WDW and have our favorites. From past trips we more or less know what it had cost us in the past. But when you use the DP, your receipt doesn't have a dollar figure on it. Just "zeros". But...one of the receipts did have an amount and I remember seeing $77.00. I think that was Chef Mickey's. And remember, tax and tip is also included. So right there the plan paid for itself that day just for that one meal. Many people feel it's just too much food for one day but DH and I only really ate 2 meals per day; either a counter service breakfast and dinner OR a counter service lunch and dinner. I know we'll use it again.

Thanks you for taking the time to share with us. It is nice to hear first hand reports instead of guessing reports! Glad the plan worked for you. :)

Thanks for sharing your experience. My husband and I just became DVC members and are staying at SSR in September in a studio and opted for the DDP. I'm glad to hear that you could get english muffins as a snack credit as that is one of my favorite breakfast items. I'll have to hit Artist Palette when I check in and pick up my muffins for breakfast.

My husband and I aren't very big eaters and often only buy a main course (no appertizers or desserts) when we eat out. I hope we will still enjoy our TS meals, however, I already feel that I'll have to skip the appertizer in leiu of the dessert and vise versa.

I don't see any reason why you wouldn't enjoy your TS meals if you skip the appetizers or desserts. Why don't you and your husband sit and try to estimate just what you nromally spend on food when you go to WDW and see if the plan will work for you. If you traditionally spend more than $39.00 per day per person, then the plan is for you. I knew what we could eat and I knew what we'd traditionally spend. So this definately worked for us!

But whatever you do decide, I know you'll love SSR. We just returned there for the first time and fell in love with the resort.
