Just returned!! On May 23rd we (DH, 3DD's) were on Kilimanjaro Safari, when the vehicle #2 in front of us had an accident while we were in the giraffe area of the ride. We initially did not know what happened, only that we were stuck in the African Savanna. A regular pick up truck was stationed in our area of the ride and the driver came over and was acting very nervously. She stated that the reason she was there was to watch out for the baby giraffe that was just introduced 2 days prior to make sure he was doing well. She offered to answer any ?'s we might have and also took our picture using our cameras. We waited for about 20 minutes before resuming the attraction. When the ride was over and we were to disembark, we noticed another safari vehicle in the unloading area with lots of Disney castmembers taking statements from the passengers. When we pulled in front of the vehicle, we could tell that the truck had obviously been in an accident. The front was damaged pretty good, with the guard rail bent in and upward. When we exited the ride, CM's were there issuing Fastpasses for the inconvenience. We overheard a CM tell our driver that "It was a tree". I was looking for anyone else who might have been present. I don't think there were any major injuries. The ride was closed down when we exited, and we didn't try to do it again.
Funny thing is, we used our FP's to ride Kali River Rapids, and on the local news tonight, there was a report of an accident today involving 6 people on that ride!!
