We're going to the Hoop De Doo in December for the first time. What did you think of it?

Also we're dining at Sci-Fi for dinner. Did you like it there?

Sure seems like you ate some wonderful places!

We love the HDD. This was our 8th time. Even though the show's the same and the food is just Ok (although the fried chicken is pretty good) we never get tired of it. This trip our our 17 yo son's GF came with us. She thought it was great also.

We've only eaten at Sci-Fi for lunch and the real attraction here is the setting. The food is good, but I would never call it great. It's pretty neat eating in a car like you're at a drive in and the movie clips are a hoot.

My opinion is you'll enjoy both as long as you're not expecting fine cuisine as the surroundings are what make both of these meals what they are.

What did you get to eat at Chefs de France, and how was it? Have ADRs there for August. Thanks!

Chef's DeFrance.

My wife had a flat bread with shrimp on it for starters (almost like a shrimp cocktail on flat bread). I had escargot (when in Rome). They were both very good.

For our main courses we had: Wife - Grilled beef tenderloin. DS17 - Rotisserie Chicken. DS14 - Flank Steak. DS's GF18 - Vegetarian lasagne. Me - Salmon, Scallops + Sole skewers. Wife and I had 2 glasses each of Pinot Blanc.

Opinions: Wife - great. DS17 - wasn't feeling well so chicken was only half eaten (it was quite hot that day and I don't think he had enough water). DS14 - Loved the flank steak although he ordered it medium and probably should have gone medium rare. Flank steak can get a little tough if over cooked. I tried a couple bites of it and it had a very good taste. DS'GF18 - very good. Me - Fish and Scallops were good but nothing to write home about. Wine was very good. I would recommend it in a minute.

Overall. Good meal although pricey. CM-Server was very attentive and friendly. DS'GF took French in HS and had traveled to France last year so they had fun conversing. Nice setting. We were seated next to the window so it was nice watching the traffic walk by.

Will probably do again, but more likely on an adults only trip. Kids would have been just as happy at another restaurant that costs less.

Wow, it sounds like you and your family had a wonderful trip. It's really nice of you for offering any advice or tips, it's really helpful to have someone's perspective on things.
I see that you dined at California Grill and saw wishes. Any information that you can offer from the restaurant would be greatly appreciated from me. I have an ADR for my Birthday this August but I have never been so I am getting a little nervous about it because it is a big expense. Anything at all about the food, dessert, wait staff, wishes, view, etc.....oh, and a huge thank you in advance :lovestruc

Okay, I can't believe there's an eating place I've never heard of! What's Starlight Mickey's at MK and what did you think of it?

Ok, for the CG question I'll just quote another response I made on another thread. "We were there a week ago and I'm not sure about the lights, but they definitely piped in the music. We went out on the observation deck for Wishes, but our youngest DS doesn't like wind blowing on his face (he's 14 and hasn't like it since he was a baby) so he stayed inside. I asked him if he heard the music and he said yes. I failed to ask about the lights though. For a restaurant review. Yes it's kind of noisy and It's not the best meal I've ever had, but overall the food is very good and the setting is fantastic."

I would definitely do it once if you can afford it.

Next, Love the HOB. If you like the types of food that are on the menu, it's very good. And the servings are huge. I don't think anyone of the 5 of us finished our meals.

Biergarten. If you enjoy German type foods you'll like it. Wife is German through and through and she's gotta have sausage/kraut/spaetzel at least once a trip. I would definitely recommend lunch there. It's very heavy/filling food. We usually eat around noon and then don't have to eat much else the rest of the day (this trip we just had some sushi for a late dinner). Yes, entertainment is regularily scheduled throughout the day (If I remember correctly they play around every 45 minutes beginning around 1:00).

Ok, you got me on the Starlight Mickey's. It's real name is Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. It's in Tomorrowland. I swear it used to be called Starlight Mickey's. It has the typical burgers/chicken strips, but does have some other things like wraps/soups etc. It's ok.

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. It really does help those of us who are undecided about where to go, what to get, etc. I know it's time-consuming...but we're grateful!!!
