Just back! 3 pescetarians and 2 omnivores! Updated, Boma and final thoughts

That Tuna Oscar does look wonderful. How 'cooked' is the tuna?

I really enjoyed this restaurant, but my DH and Mom didn't really enjoy it, especially Mom. I guess it was just too different for her. Jim said the meat was dry, but he really liked the mustard sauce that was offered in front of the meat area.
As much as I'd like to return next year, I think it would have to be a solo meal!

I thought it was a pretty restaurant. My DH loved Boma. I liked it, especially the nut crusted salmon, all the hummus, carrot ginger soup and the coconut chicken curry stew but in general I am not much of a buffet person.

The kids liked it but there were others they liked more so I'm not sure we'll be back. As pretty as AKL is, it felt very far away and I'd probably try Jiko or Yak and Yeti for our next AK day instead.

Mine was cooked rare, which was seared on the outside and pink on the inside but not raw. Our server asked if this was ok, so I'm sure you could have it cooked more if you like. I've just recently been exploring more with less cooked fish, especially tuna, and really like it very rare or just seared. Who would have guessed!

I'm also considering Jiko for one evening. It looked like such a pretty restaurant and I think my DH would really enjoy the tenderloin with the mac 'n cheese.

I think you would really enjoy the Flying Fish on the Boardwalk-save it for a date night! The appetizers are interesting and with a salad enough for a meal. We also like Spoodles-the waiter we had was very nice without being pushy-maybe it was the same one! :)

I agree, I think we would like it very much! Definitely a good date night choice too because it's expensive. The menus looks fantastic! Especially the appetizers, I'm going to have a hard time picking just one so I'll probably do 2, 1 as my entree! Right now the cheese plate and the Yellowfin Tuna Tartare sound excellent. I can guarantee my Dh will pick the lump crab cakes, and I might encourage him to try the potato wrapped snapper to I can try it too!

Thanks for the reviews - Spoodles looked absolutely delicious. I reckon I would like those kebabs :)

Go back again, just do breakfast next time. You'll still get the wonderful special things and they'll get bfast meats, made to order omlettes, etc. I too and a fish eating vegetarian and just LOVED my recent bfast there. No fish dishes at bfast, but the french toast melts in the mouth, pap, salsa and roasted tomatoes still linger in my mind. :goodvibes

Thanks for the great reviews and pics. Your daughters are adorable. I'm a little nervous about trying Boma for our June trip. DH will love it I'm sure but I'm a pretty picky eater. How did you like the zebra domes? I can't wait to try those. :goodvibes

The zebra domes were pretty good, I'd eat them again, but I liked some of the other desserts better. There was a cheese flan that I really liked and didn't think I would just looking at it!

I didn't know you could get California Rolls at Sunshine Seasons! Do they have any kind of mayonaise or sauce on them?

Thanks!

No, no mayo or sauce on the Cali rolls. Just a side of pickled ginger, wasabi and a packet of soy sauce.

That is great to hear! I have dairy, beef, and egg allergies so I have to be careful about label reading...I love sushi too! Can't wait to get some there!

great report and pics thanks:dance3: pity spoodles is cloosing down soon and being replaced........ hopefully new place will be as nice as spoodles as it seems so popular

Thank you for he review! We tend to eat at the same places over and over within the world and really need to branch out a bit and try all of them at least once.
