Just Back 3/5/16...some AMAZING meals, disappointment at Signatures. (TONS OF PICS!) FINISHED

Based on the pictures and thoughts of various reviews of Boatwright's I've seen, I'm going to try it on the last night of our trip. I like Cajun food, so this place sounds good.

It's really such a cute place. Our food was excellent. I know the guy behind us was excited about his dish of some kind, it was I think shrimp and grits. You could get it two ways and it looked phenomenal!

GREAT trip report!!!!!!

You know, I've been to almost all the signatures, and there's only been ONE meal that was perfect from start to finish. I think because you build up the signatures so much (and they're typically your "special" meal of the trip), it feels extra disappointing. On the flip side, it's the restaurants you don't think much about that knock your socks off! It's extra awesome because you get so pleasantly surprised, know what I mean? That's my own personal theory anyway.

Our next trip is off DDP completely. I'm going QS, our favorite standbys and explore lounge menus/Swan and Dolphin a bit more. I've discovered with little kids, I no longer want to dictate my day around ADR's.

Your food pictures are great! Too bad about Jiko. :( We just had our first meal there and loved it!

Skipper Canteen will have to be on our list for our next vacation. It's nice to have something interesting and new to try!

Loved all your reviews and pictures of POR. Such a beautiful resort! I agree with the reader who asked about your camera-your picture quality is wonderful. I'm looking for a new, decent point and shoot as well. Our last couple have been really disappointing. Again, thanks for sharing.

Thanks and I'm glad you enjoyed it! I absolutely love my camera, but IVe had it for about 4 years. It's a canon s100, I know I posted the link to the model they sell now that is basically the same. I paid $400 for it though... I know the current model is about the same. So it's definitely expensive for a point and shoot but well worth it I think. It takes great pictures in low light as well.

Skipper Canteen was VERY good. We ended up here for lunch unexpectedly. I'm one of the people annoyed that they don't do 180 day adrs. So I had reservations at Kona Cafe for lunch while we were at the MK, but the monorail was down. So after calling the dining line, they let me cancel Kona without penalty since the monorail was down. Skipper Canteen was at least 2/3 full. We sat in the "butterfly booth" and our room was completely full, as was the other smaller room. The large room was 2/3 full. The service here was EXCELLENT!!!

The portion sizes for the chicken meal looks large, but it was deceptively small. (however VERY good, and still MUCH bigger than meals at Cali Grill or Jiko, so it was just fine!). On the other hand, I ordered the "mac and cheese" which looked small in pics, but was deceptively LARGE. I only got about half way through. FYI, the "mac and cheese" tastes like a taco!!!!!! I had no clue what the heck it would taste like from the pics, I figured like a tomato sauce. NO, it's like taco seasoned beef with creamy noodles (not cheesy in any way). My husband said it tasted like an enchilada in a bowl.

BTW if you sit in the butterfly booth everyone will ask to take pictures of you...

The honey bread was wonderful

S.E.A. Shu Mai

Mac and Cheese (or we thought "deconstructed taco in a bowl")

Tastes like Chicken (hubby loved it)

Kungaloosh = WOW.

Looks amazing and the interior looks really cool! Looking forward to trying this on our trip in November. Thank you for the photos these are very helpful.

Great reviews! Thanks for all your hard work. I may have to try to fit in Skipper Canteen somewhere in here - it looks really fun!

Does it take pictures quickly? Our current point and shoot, which is not old but did not cost nearly $400 (I can't remember how much) is taking pictures really slowly. You have to hold the button down sometimes...so annoying, but also, even when you don't there is about a 1 second pause between when you press and when the photo snaps, which can be enough to really take some unfortunate pictures unless everything is perfectly still. We want one that is fast, like when you snap a photo from an I phone.

Boy that would be really annoying. I wonder if it's a defect? Definitely no pause between when you push the button and when the photo snaps. Now you can't take a billion rapid fire pictures in a row like with a DSLR, probably like a 5 second pause in between pictures but overall good for a point and shoot.
