I'm not really a trip report kind of girl but I just wanted to give some highlights of my past trip. This still seems to be the perfect time to go. You can honestly only truly enjoy disney by doing your research on the best time to go.
We knew better than going during POP Warner and surely wanted to go in Dec. before those Dec 21st crowds. I hate to say this for fear that next year will be crazy but the week after (I think it's like the third week) POP Warner is the perfect time to go.
Thurs in Epcot at around 10am Soarin was walk on. Later in the day used FP and never waited more than 5 minutes. Saw no Dream time this day anywhere.
Fri - MK - This was crazy - every ride had like a 5-20 minute wait. Most FP machines were covered. All mountains were 5-15min. The longest wait was Pooh - 20min. For mor than 5min waits we just used FP because we were too spiled with not waiting. We also gotWe got to ride Dumbo on the first flight. (I was at rope drop and started walking fast to Dumbo, then mommies started running ahead of me with strollers, so I started running, I felt so foolish but it was so funny running with the other moms - that was a first)
From a tip from another Diser, Went to Ariels Grotto, less then 5min wait. I went to toontown around 10am and I was like the 5th person in line - saw Belle, Snow White and Cindy. Rode Peter Pan and my 3yo wanted to do it again, we tried to coax him into riding something else first but this was a lost battle. This was our second ride of the day. After getting off we were met by the Dream Team and given Dream Fast Passes(Thanks to my 3yo). I was very grateful for them but we only were able to use two of them as the waits for the rides did not warrant there use.
Sat at AK seemed slightly more busier than the other parks but we still were able to ride everything we wanted. We were visited by the Dream Team again while in line at the Tricep. Spin in Dinoland. This was a close call as we were the last family to receive them, we were actually short one but they said to go see them when we get off the ride for the extra one. Most shows were walk ins.
Sun - Universal Studios. We have always gone before and have stayed onsite but this place is just changing. It was okay but we probably won't fit it in our next trip.
Mon - MGM. RNR was broke down in the morning which made for a VERY long TT line. But DH and kids hit TT before this and I got them FP for RNR. After TT (walk on) we saw Little Mermaid(walk in), they rode RNR and TT again. It had gotten warmer the crowds were coming and it was only 11am. I was ready to leave. So no real report of MGM.
This trip was great. Great weather, we got a good spot(hub) for Wishes, we saw shows and parades (we never made time for them before), we did not go commando(except for trying to get out of MK one night - that's another story), we rode in front of the monorail (co-pilots), we took time to go to Downtown Disney. We just really enjoyed ourselves. My DS3.5 was able to ride alot more rides than last trip. His favorite is Splash Mountain. It was a great trip and thanks to everyone posting their tips and experience, which aided in making our trip so enjoyable.
I'll be happy to answer any questions.
