Hi all,
Okay this is my very first pre-trip posting, as well as our first family trip to WDW coming up. We leave in 8 days and are ALL so excited!!
Let me start by saying the last time I was at Disney I was only 12 years old and Epcot wasn't even built yet!! (I'm 38) My husband lived in Florida for a couple of years and was last at the World about 12 years ago. Our children have never been.
We live in Michigan and are pulling our travel trailer down to Disney and staying at where else, Fort Wilderness!! Great friends of ours who live in Chicago, with their 3 kids are also pulling their trailer down and we are vacationing together! Big fun coming!! Our cast includes:
Me (Kim) - full time SAHM and avid Disney planner!! Everyone is abusing me at how much I've been researching and planning this trip! I just say whatever.
It should also be said that I am scrapbooker and overall picture taking freak! I'll be on the lookout for every photo opportunity and character greeting.
Hubby/Dad (Brad) - in charge of camper and most of the driving down. My job will be to help him not be stressed out and lose his patience!
DD (Alison) age 8.5 (going on 13) - huge animal lover and "claims she is over the Princesses", at least until we started planning this trip!
Now she's very excited to be seeing them and the other characters in person!
DS (Matthew) turning 6 in April - LOVES all the Pixar movies and characters and is sooooo excited to meet them in person!
So here are the details as I've planned them (to death it seems):
Leaving Michigan 3/20 in the morning to head south. Will drive to Berea, KY and stop for the night to sleep. Next day will drive to Perry, GA and possibly a little further. We won't make great time cuz we have to stop for gas about every 300 miles....looking forward to the gas bill for this trip, NOT!!
We will arrive at the Fort on Saturday 3/22 and have reservations for Mickey's Backyard BBQ that night! From what I've heard this is a great dinner and overall fun time.
Sunday (Easter) will be our first day in the parks and we're heading to DHS. We will arrive before opening and are following Tour Guide Mike's touring plan. We want to hit all the big rides and definitely want to see the shows (Little Mermaid, High School Musical & Beauty and the Beast). Lunch will be at Pizza Planet, which I've heard is very good...and my son is a Toy Story NUT!! We have 4:10 ressies at Mama Melrose's for the Fantasmic Dinner Package
I'm sure by the time we get back to the camper that night, after a full day at the park, we'll be exhausted!
On Monday, we will head to AK for the day, driving ourselves. Once again, will be there at opening! Definitely doing the safari and big attractions, and seeing Nemo and The Lion King. Lunch at Flame Tree BBQ. Both of my kids are animal lovers and are very excited to see all the wildlife! We are planning on staying till after the Jungle Parade at 4:00 and then will be driving over to Epcot for the Princess Storybook Dinner in Norway at 6:30.
As soon as we arrive at Epcot we'll get FP for Soarin' and also plan to ride Maelstrom while there. Staying for Illumations and then back to the Fort.
Tuesday is our only "non-park" day. We have horseback riding at 10:00 for my daughter and I. She's a horse lover and this will be her first time riding.
We're planning on just hanging at the Fort, swimming and relaxing. We've rented a golf cart for the day, which will be fun. For dinner we are taking the boat over to the Contemporary Resort for dinner, and then riding the Monorail to Epcot and back. Then will be back for the Sing-A-Long with Chip and Dale at the bonfire....and will watch 102 Dalamations!
Finally, on Wednesday we will hit the MK!!
We'll take the boat over and will arrive early, before opening. Since we only have 1 day here, we want to make the most of it, and will be using FP whenever we can. Once again, we'll be following TGM plans and hopefully will get to see everything we want. We aren't riding Stitch or doing the Swiss Family Treehouse for sure. It will be a long day as we are planning on being there until late that night. We have ressies at Liberty Tree Tavern for the character dinner at 5:30 and will have lunch at Cosmic Rays! We'll finish the day with the parade and fireworks before heading back.
On Thursday we will pack up and head out. Our drive home will take us 2 days but we can take our time and stop along the way if something interests us. I won't have net access at Disney, but will be posting a TR when we get back. I don't know when I'll be able to start posting attachments, but I'm hoping to include pics!! Stay tuned.....
