weather! Due to everyone's schedules the only time to visit the World is January 2 thru January 9, 2009. We have never been so early in the year. Is it really cold? What to pack, what to wear are the questions?!?!?:confused3 Anyone with early January experience, please help!! Thanks:worship:

January (winter in general) in Orlando is heaven. I made my first trip to WDW in January (I was starting as a College Program Cast Member many years ago) and I was in shock/love with how pleasant the weather was during the day (light sweater, or less) and the evenings (light-to moderate jacket). I'm from Atlanta, so it wasn't a massive (like Minnesota) difference, but it felt great to feel the warmth of the sun during the day and the chilly air at night. I don't remember much (any!) rain, either - I think January is a relatively dry month, too. Also, crowds are ridiculously low - I got very, very spoiled by the low tides that time of year and I expect to be quite overwhelmed with actually having to wait in lines during next month's trip!

You're going to have a wonderful time - hands down, it's my favorite month to go to WDW.

Re: packing - layers are key this time of year, because the temps really can vary. It's generally mild, but sometimes slips into very cold. I think it also depends on where you are coming from - is the mid-sixties going to feel balmy? Or will you be more comfortable in a sweater at that point? You'll need a jacket regardless, but it's very doubtful you'll need a big coat. Have you checked the average temps? There's a website that does avg. temps directly in the WDW area - try googling; you'll get a better idea as to what you're looking at.

Can be very cold, or very mild, just never know. Prepare for both. One year in Jan we went and it was so cold, almost like arctic weather. Another year we went in Jan and it was shirt sleeve weather!!

to hijack your post- but did you have any promos or discounts for the dates you are visiting? I am trying to help a friend plan her trip

We have been to the parks around Jan 5-9 the last two years, and also went during this time about 6 years ago. It was chilly in the morning (50's and low 60's). It was too cool to swim comfortably - the pools are heated but the air was cold. The hot tubs felt good, though! Also the crowds were pretty heavy. Not real bad, but not light. We really enjoyed it though because you don't get overheated like other times of the year.
