Just an idea...for Pirate Night

After reviewing the threads on how to dress for pirate night and vascillating between buying the costumes for the kids or using the money to get therapy for my obsessive cruise planning issues, I had an economical idea for pirate night. Oriental Trading company (www.orientaltrading.com) has pirate hats, eye patches, swords, bandanas, etc for sale cheap. For instance adult's pirate hat $2.95 or childs $2.95 or eye patches $3.95 (for 48...I know, I know) Plastic pirate's swords w/ eye patches (asking for trouble pirate: ) $9.95 for a dozen (share with your friends) They have moustaches (is that spelled right :confused3 ) and pirate bandanas, pirate tattoos....
Anyway, maybe this can help someone pirate: pirate: pirate:

Jen you are tooo funny... :rotfl:

I suffer from the same disorder as you. Yesterday, while in the dollar store, my dd pointed out all the pirate thingies in the party section. Isn't that weird.. Never thought of looking there. They had party favors, and like 4 in a package for a buck. They had patches, swords, bandanas.... They were cute too....

Just thought I would add my two cents... :rolleyes1

I got some hats eye patches and earrrings at the party store-I feared getting swords and packing them and being held up at the airport.

And don't forget that they will give you a bandana. We just sailed a few weeks ago, and our waiters came and placed them on our heads. They are great, and have decals that even glow in the dark! I know you will all have as much fun as DH and I did!

I have been using oriental trading for years..they are the best.

Thank you! I didn't think to try the dollar store! I had been to two party stores and no luck :sad2: My Dh has agreed to wear an eye patch and an earring , so I have to find them now!!! :goodvibes

Cool, I love oriental trading. Just a coincidence but my girls were both pirates last halloween so they are all set. Since they don't know about the cruise yet I have to snag the costumes and accessories from the dress up bin and hide them so they stay nice enough to wear on the cruise. I will hit the party store and or OTC for a few things for DH and I.

This sounds like a fun night!

The tattoos are adorable!!! I got a batch to share with our DIS friends on the cruise when I placed an order for the school. :)

Thanks for your two cents to save my two cents :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I'm crackin myself up! I don't think I know what a dollar store is. Sounds like something I might like. What are some of the names of the stores? Like Target? I will check out the party stores...duh for me, I just assumed because it wasn't around halloween they wouldn't have anything. Of course, now that I think of it...we aren't going until the middle of Sept...halloween stuff might be out by then. Oh..who can wait...MUST PLAN MUST PLAN MUST PLAN
Thanks!

Allright Jenn, now I am at working laughing like a "nut"...

The dollar stores around here have french names, so I do no think that helps you out. But, have been to some elsewhere, like, the dollar tree, yankee dollar....

By the way...we went in September, and yep all the stores had been stocked with the Halloween stuff for a while...

Okay, I looked into this and found one...called the dollar store (conveniently). Why don't we have more. It is miles away. ANyone in Colorado (Highlands Ranch/Littleton) know of anymore. Thanks all...

Is there a pirate night on every cruise now... ? :confused3 We are going to be on the wonder in April and I was told their was a luau night is it now a pirate night? I am so confused

:wave2:

Down here in NC, we have Dollar Tree, Dollar General and not to be confused, The Dollar Store..... :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I plan on looking in all of them.

Yes, the tropical night has been replaced by Pirate night on ALL DCL cruises. :)

That's nothing, in my town, we have the dollar tree, dollar general, AND the dollar store within 1 mile of each other. :confused3

When we went on the Magic in September, before there were expensive pirate costumes everywhere you look, we had decided we wanted to play. And if you don't have to be the "Captain" you can put together a pretty good scurvy pirate outfit for boys pretty inexpensively. pirate: We have 14 and 8 year old DSs. And they both wore old baseball uniform pants that they pulled up their legs a bit, a white dress shirt hanging out and not completely buttoned. And we were lucky enough to have a red velvet vest from younger (Christmas) days that still fit my 8YO (actually the smallness helped the costume) and my older one used a vest of my husbands (also red for Christmas) and the bigness helped the costume. Older son wore basic square toed black dress shoes and younger son wore sandals. Add the patch, bandana and an earring form the party store and you a pretty well set. It looked surprisingly good. Oh, and older son added a dress belt buckled but slung crossways over his shoulder like a holster. It just added to the look. They got raves from the CMs, and everyone had a blast. Unfortunately I'm not savvy enough to include a picture. :confused3

We have a "Dollar Store" and a store called "Just a Buck"...both offer every item for only $1.00. At "just a buck" I purchased a black felt pirate hat with white trim...it was great because it folded flat for packing. During the deck party I gave it to a little boy nearby who was eyeing it....

I am not mistaken, Dollar General is not a true "dollar" store as things in there are more than just $1.00.

There is a Dollar Tree next to Southwest Plaza. There are also some Family Dollar (or Family Value not quite sure of name) around town, but I think that most of those are further north. Big Lots also usually have some good deals on things too. I know where a couple of those are.

we went feb 24 and i bought cheap things at party city...they were in the birthday section for kids...it was a theme for a birthday party but they had hats, swords, eyepatches, earrings etc...we really enjoyed the pirate night..
