This comes from Greg at Magic Trips. A online little daily Diz fix ....
(DizNews/DizNewsPlus: Until next time, maintain that Disney fix by
visiting Magictrips at http://www.magictrips.com - Greg)

DIZNEWS: Disney Vacation Club marks two milestones this year: the
recent 100,000th Member family and the celebration of the program's
15th anniversary this fall. DVC revolutionized the vacation-
ownership concept when it came onto the scene in 1991, blending
unprecedented flexibility with Disney's unrivaled brand of
innovation and imagination. Since then, families from more than 100
countries and every U.S. state have joined DVC, and just recently
the program welcomed its 100,000th Member family, effectively
doubling membership since 2000. Preparations also are underway to
celebrate the program's 15th anniversary beginning in October 2006.
In DVC's 2005 Member Survey, about 95 percent of surveyed Members
rated Disney Vacation Club as "excellent" or "very good," an all-
time high for the always highly rated program.

Just passing it along....I'm impressed with the membership number....

Looks like they just picked up Disney's press release on the topic. That is a bunch of members...and I'll resist the temptation to move this thread to a BWYTSTM debate! :)

I'm not coming up with anything that fits..LOL

I wonder if they'll have something special happening in October to celebrate. We'll be there and would love to be around for it. DVC does seem to be getting the word out a lot lately (ABC ads, AFV prize, etc.).

It seems to be missing a letter but most likely is "buy where you want to stay the most" - at least that is the only thing I can come up wtih

Thanks for sharing. I am excited to see what they will do in October!!

The Member Cruise is in October. October 22-26, 2006. Maybe they will do something around that time, since all the execs go on the MC.

Im thinking this will be a pretty special cruise because of the anniversary.

Yep...I missed that second "w"!

Assuming that every member vacations once a year, and only books on one day (no day by day), that means on average that about 400 people are trying to book a vacation every day MS is open!

I know the assumptions aren't true, but it does give you a feel for how much volume MS is handling each day.

Be honest - you omitted the 'W' on purpose, just to mess with our minds! ;) :lmao:

Good point about the numbers - and if only half of those 400 are trying to connect at 9AM ET, it's still gonna be very busy.

What I'd really like to know is how many points go wasted (unused, unrented, unbanked) every year. While we DIS folks are pretty point-aware, given my ever-so-slightly-cynical attitude about the vast majority of owners, I bet that a lot of points just get lost ("Oh, shoot - I forgot to bank those 38 points. Oh well....").

None of my points will ever go wasted! I'll over book every year just so I won't ever have to worry about banking a point! lol

A few years ago, I requested a printout of my account activity statement. Well, along with my statement, I got someone else's statement too. I think they grabbed both off the printer and didn't realize that it was for 2 different people and not just a thick one for me.

Anyways, I called MS to let them know and they told me to put the mis-mailed statement in the shredder.

But before I did so, I was nosy so I looked. :rolleyes1 The DVC member had 150 points which they used the first year and banked the next 2 years. They used again on the 3rd year but not all the banked points. They forgot to bank the 4th year and didn't get to use their banked points either.

So they had all their 150 points available during their 5th year but had let over 300 points lapse without use during the previous 3 years!!! :faint: I about fell over in disbelief. I really wanted to contact the DVC members (their address was on the statement) and let them know about the Disboards and how they could either rent or give away their points - but to let them EXPIRE?!!! But reason prevailed and I put that statement through the shredder before those poor members got some stranger knocking on their door berating them for letting valuable DVC points expire!
