Just about to start diet and I think that I am GOING to need some support!!!!!!!

Been browsing here for some time and now that the scales have tipped the 180lbs mark have decided that its now or never, I have put on over 14lbs since shingles, as I had it on my leg and was unable to exercise for some time, but if truth be told, I needed to loose weight before that, so I am going to start today..... I am going to calorie count - I thought that this would be easeiest for me as I work as a cook and eat at odds times i.e after the lunches have finished being served at 2.00 pm. I am going back to swimming, I can get 3 x 20 mins sessions in in the mornings before taking the boys to school and will try a couple of afternoon swims as well. DH doesn't think that I need to loose weight so I think I am going to need support from somewhere, do not want to tell to many friends incase I don't succeed and look stupid - so here goes my weigh in this morning is 182 lbs - lets hope that it is less by next Wednesday Morning!!!!!
 
well we are all here to support you.....i got real sick last year with mono and every other infection you can think of and towards the end of the mono i got shingles and now i am said to have chronic fatigue syndrome and irritable bowel syndrome and before all this i was around 100lbs so i know how frustrating gaining weight from illness and medications can be and you will find many people on these boards to help you including myself and maybe we can help each other........good luck to you.....

snookhams - welcome to our family! I KNOW you will be a big LOSER just like the rest of us! First off we have to adjust your attitude: of course you don't look stupid! You are choosing a new lifestyle that incorporates healthy eating and exercise. Seems pretty smart to me!

and you are ALREADY a success! You have sought out support, committed yourself to a new lifestyle in which you will feel much much better and live longer, and recognized that you ARE worthy of it all! Each day is a part of the journey, there is no fail or success here, only day by day and never looking back.

Thank you all so much for your encouragement, I've had a good day, kept busy and have kept in my calorie limit - just!. The evenings are definatly the worse time, DH works nights and once the boys are in bed, I tend to comfort eat, but tonight I have kept busy cutting out the skirt that I am making for eldest DS confirmation at the end of the month, and now I have come to browse on the Dis to keep me out of mischeif, hee, hee. and then I'm of to bed, and look forward to another good day tomorrow.

UGH, I had shingles last year on my neck, ear and chest. I know how terribly painful it is.

Hi, Snookhams, it’s great to see you here on WISH. We have a wonderful support group, as you can see from the great welcome you have received. We love seeing new people take the WISH challenge, it means one more person for the support group :)

You may add the WISH member clipart to your signature, if you wish. There is a very helpful post telling you how to do that <b>HERE</b>. The WISH clipart is exempt from the DIS clipart restrictions, isn’t that great?

After you do that, will you post to the WISH challenge thread? You will find that <b>HERE</b>. That helps us keep track of all our WISHers, I would hate to leave you off the list.

I think you’re going to like it here, we have WISHers following all kinds of eating plans. The best part of WISH, though, are all of the caring, thoughtful and kind people who make up our support group. They have been <i>such</i> a help for me, I just know they will help you too. Each person on WISH is struggling with the same things you struggle with and face the same challenges you face. It’s helpful to be able to come here to WISH and know that no matter what question you ask, what fear you voice, or even how much you whine, (well, <i>I</i> whine, you probably don’t ;) ) there is going to be a support group to find you an answer, calm your fears and offer you comfort. WISH is truly the most caring forum that I have ever found. I’m so glad you will be here with us now.

This has nothing to do with WISH, but did you know that there is a chat every Sunday evening at 7PM BST? There is! We have a lot of fun in that chat planning our trips together, people from the UK, the US, Germany, Italy, Copehagen, the Netherlands and sometimes Israel are in that chat and it’s fun. I hope you will join us some Sunday :)
