Hello :)

I am new, DLP 09, and now for the BIG one !

We have been discussing finances etc and what we want to do see and have found a deal, now I want to book with a TA as I can pay in installments and also not worry about individual items, so hoping anyone in the know will advise whether this is good !

22nd Sept 11 for 14 Nights.
Flight from Manchester (Parking is £55 for the 2 weeks)
2A and 2C (7 and 11)

Staying at AKL with disney dining plan (the next one up from quick service, with table service) for the 14 days.

14 day Disney tickets (on the 14 for 7 deal)

Orlando Flex Plus for the 6 parks inc transportation.

£5668

Anyone tell me if this seems ok? With Thomson's (Virgin was way more as was the actual disney site).

Adult tickets for 11 year old for theme parks.

Being a WDW Virgin, I haven't a clue rather than looking on TA websites and comparing cost !

Thomson's also do £250 dep today, £650 by end of Sept and then balance 10 weeks before......oh it's gonna be tight, but do-able !

We keep saying, one day, one day....but know if we booked we will do it !

Any advice appreciated !

Just tried to do a quick breakdown

AKL, tix & free DDP Total Price £3,187.00 (£4,041.00 for Savannah view), personally I would rather do OKW or SSR than a standard room at AKL, AKL is great but has to be a savannah room for us. OKW/SSR would cost Total Price £2,571.00 almost £1,500 cheaper than the savannah view but rooms/hotels are a personal choice.

Flex plus tix Grand Total £810 (sometimes cheaper to buy seperate rather than all in 1 ticket)

So cheapest AKL room & flex tix = £3,997, leaving £1,671 for your flights, fair enough for 4 direct flights IMO.

Have you considered renting points from a DVC member to stay at AKL? We did this back in 2009 and was MUCH cheaper, check out the DVC section on the DIS

I'd say for 4 of you, with flights and DDP that's a pretty good deal. :)

Also want to say I'd much rather pay the extra for AKL than save and stay at OKW/SSR.

Definitely give them a look if the price appeals, but they are very different from AKL and the other Deluxe hotels.

AKL is amazing! We've booked our return already!

posted a big long reply and lost it !

TA has come down in price so we went for it !

Can't beleive it's all booked and deposit paid!

Looked at other resorts but came in more, also kids are wild about wild animals so hopefully we will enjoy ourselves !

Only a standard room, but couldn't quite afford the savannah view !

Now to find out what tips I can find, never been before so all new !

Thank you so much x

Hopefully you will get a free upgrade when you checkin, we did. I believe there are more upgrades at AKL than any other.
Happy planning.:goodvibes

The savannah view is fanastic however I would still have a happy stay without the view. As I think the hotel is amazing too. The lobby is amazing and they have lots of activities for adults and children. The CM are the most friendly I have met at WDW.
They have cultural representatives who do the activities and they really engage with the kids. My DD loved talking to them about animals in Africa, there was a lady who did African face painting too. It is worth taking sometime from the parks to experience it all.

We were in a standard room last year and we got a great savannah view, was towards the back where the different savannahs meet so there was an iron fence to keep the difrferent animals apart , but we saw loads of zebras and Giraffes.
We`ve been twice and loved it both times, you will have a ball.
As for tips, all i can say is book a Boma Breakfast and a Jiko dinner, loved both of these.

We were standard view and had an amazing Savannah view!!

We were the second room off the lobby overlooking the main savannah, so I think it didn't count as SV, as the animals couldn't get right in front of our balcony, but this was our view:

This one you can see what I mean about it not strictly being "savannah view":

But even if I'd have paid for a SV I don't think I'd have complained as we were less than 10 seconds to the lobby! Great location!

Akl is a fab resort, even with a standard room you will have plenty of places to view the animals. Don't forget to check out all the activities at the resort such as story telling around the fire pit and watching the animals at night with the night vision goggles to name but a few

For your posts, you must stop I am far far too excited and 419 days to go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh the pictures are wonderful !!!! I was going to book Boma for dinner the first night as we arrive at AKL about 6pm and after the flight etc I think the kids will be tired !

However, you never know......thank you so much !
