Can someone for the love of Mickey advise me on how to book DME? The scenario is, holiday to Pop for November-December this year booked through Virgin. Refuse to pay Virgin's price for the transfer, so want to boo DME. If I go to magicalexpress website I can get as far as putting in my dates and no further-it just takes me back to the date as though there is something wrong with what I have entered -ther can't be as its a calendar to click on the date, I haven't entered anything in.
I have been emailing back and forth wth Disney idiots, I mean employees of the month all night-each time I get a different idiot who trots out the standard spiel about DME then tells me if I didn't book direct with them I need to get my travel agent to book DME for me. Has anyone else had this problem? Or are the good folks at Virgin only too willing to forego the £50 they could make out of coach transfers to help me book it for free?
I booked quite easily last year on the website-in fact I had tried to ring the 0800 number first to book it and been told I couldn't book myself, only through my travel agent. I am so mousing fed up right now I could cry...

Sorry to rant, its just that with stupid magic bands and picking what rides I want to do sometime in my next lifetime, I really am starting to think that a Disney vacation is more trouble than its worth-holidays aren't supposed to be this much work!

Call the Disney Uk phone line 0800 16 90 730, I never bothered with the website and phoned as I had to request a wheelchair coach , but it took about 2 mins , just give them your dates and flight number , they'll find it and add it to your booking.

I find it strange they said you can't ???

Always easier for me to talk to a human on the phone , as we have special requests so may work for you to?

I sent my details for our flight in August, and got a rather snotty email back telling me not to try and book till 30 days out (their initial response said 30 days out OR when balance is paid in full, which we've done). Wasn't too impressed, but will leave it and try again in July.

Really?? I booked the day I got my full reservation number at 300 days out ! but that was by phone , not e-mail.

If you wait until later today (because the DME folk work on EST business hours) and call Disney UK and ask them to transfer you they will do. That's how I got hold of them.

For some reason when I made my online booking my DME selection 'fell off' so I had to call to add it and this is how I did it.

Even if it's best to book, they will get you on the bus anyway (as long as you have an hotel reservation)
some had so many issues with DME that they ended up going without booking, some others just didn't bother at all. Every one of them got on the bus no questions asked.

just sayin' ...

Thansk you everyone for reading my rant and not judging-in my defence it was late and I was tired and well beyond fed up. Dole whips all round and thanks for the sensible advice!

Hi there

Just read your post and thought I'd make a suggestion but please don't shout at me if I'm suggesting something obvious! Lol I had a similar scenario yesterday while trying to book something and I couldn't work out why I kept being taken back to the date screen! I then realised I had to put the dates into US format mm/dd/yyyy Doh!

Apologies though if this isn't the case :)

Michelle

Ignore me! Just seen that you didn't enter the date, you used the calendar, so obviously isn't that.

Sorry!

Don't apologize! At least not on my account! The title of your thread had me giggling through my morning. I was trying not to visualise your parking proposals though :lmao:

I just laughed loudly when I saw the title of this thread as well. DH nearly jumped out of his skin as we are sitting very quietly in our living room with no TV on. :rotfl:

Sorry if you have tried this already but have you actually asked tour travel agent to book you on the dme? We are booked with Thomas cook and as soon as I said I didn't want the car he booked us straight onto dme with no charge. So its worth just asking them, perhaps your agent just assumed you had transfer sorted. Good luck :goodvibes

We booked through VH in 2012 and declined there transfers as DME is much more fun, with the videos and countdown as you go under the Disney archway :-) We just called the DisneyUK call centre and added it to the booking no problem.
I agree calling the American number can be very hit and miss. On a few occasions I've told them what to do and how to do it. Think they should employ me sometimes ;-)

Glad I could make you giggle:goodvibes I suppose its not Mickey's fault that his employees are all numpties and there are lots of characters I'd sooner park the bus on....(Peter Pan's Wendy-never EVER liked her...)

As an experiment i tried just putting just my arrival date in on the website and it was quite happy to let me go through, but as soon as I put our departure date of December in it wouldn't let me continue so i assume it can only do it so far in advance-wish the numpties had told me about that:headache:. Thanks too to the person who said that the 0800 number would book them on DME-when I tried last year they said they couldn't unless I'd booked through Disney. Guess it depends which numpty you get....
