We have Jungle Navigation booked for lunch in a few weeks. The restaurant looked interesting the last time we visited (December 2019) and the menu is appealing (we love interesting food). BUT - I just read that the servers have a schtick like on the Jungle Cruise (not a fan). Now I'm not sure what to do - I'm ok with a few funny comments, but I want the food to be the entertainment.

Thoughts?

Its good food. The jokes will take up no more than a minute or two in total of your entire experience. So I wouldn't let that stop you from going

Thank you! I was hoping that was the case, since the menu looks tasty. Any other tips/thoughts?

It's one of our favorites! It's not like the server stands at the table cracking jokes. Usually it's just on your way to the table and maybe a joke or two when you order. It's not scripted like the jungle cruise. We seem to hear new jokes every time we eat there. The jokes are so bad that they are funny. It's a really fun part of the whole dining experience.

I love the jokes, but reputable sources indicate one can always request “no antics” at WDW restaurants that involve them (Whispering Canyon/50s Prime Time). I’m sure if you politely indicated your preference for no jokes at the start of the meal, they would honor it.

But don’t order the cachapas, they’re the corniest thing on the menu. And you should probably ask for the dairy allergy-friendly menu, since it sounds like you don’t wan’t anything cheesy!

It really depends on the server.
We have been there several times. Some of the times we have a server who is awesome and runs thru many bad Jungle Cruise jokes.
Other times, they are a server, no jokes. Still a very good, well trained server, but missed the jokes.
We never found the servers to really be intrusive in the meal. Would agree that even the best jokes don't last that long. Often when they first arrive, take your order, maybe when they bring your food.
Either way, have always enjoyed the food.

Two thoughts. One, order the falafel app. Its excellent. Second thought, if you like humor but not the joking servers, go look at the books on the shelves inside the restaurant. There are a lot of good puns and obscure jokes on the fake titles

We ate there three times. We never noticed our servers were doing a routine or telling more jokes than any other restaurant on property (outside of Whispering Canyon and 50’s).

I have not had serevers be too jokey - the person at the check-in was though. If you ask for the restroom, they may ask if you prefer indoor or outdoor! 🤣 Honestly, the schtick was light from the servers, but the menu hasjokes. If you are seated near the kitchen you can hear a recorded loop of antics, like monkeys breaking dishes and whatnot. The food is great though so I recommend that you give it a try. If you don't play along, they will catch on.

The only thing I ever really got was my first visit when I was being seated. The guy taking me to my table said "I'm taking you to the best table in the place, and I'm not lion!" - my table was right next to a lion carving.

Other than that no real schtick. Definitely nothing as obnoxious as what they do at Whispering Canyon (I will never visit because of that - even if you request none, you have to deal with it all around you) or Prime Time.

OK - you guys have me excited about eating there now! Should I request a specific room? The main hall looks not as themed as the smaller ones. I don't know what they are called.

Echoing others - it's a good pick, especially among MK restaurants. They don't do antics like Whispering Canyon, just a few little jokes - no big deal :) enjoy!
