I'm not sure if this is were I should post this, but here is my question. Is the Jungle book dvd still available for purchase or is it in the vault? I can't seem to find it in any store. I have not checked online yet. TIA

Ebay will have them. I think they are in the vault.

It was originally released in December of 1999 and was discontinued in January of 2000. The only version ever released was the Limited Issue version (the first line of Disney DVD releases) and it was completely bare-bones when it comes to bonus features, and didn't have that great of a restoration either.

It is rumored the the Platinum Edition release of the Jungle Book will be out in February/March of 2007. I'd wait until then.

Legitimate copies will sell on ebay for big $$ while bootlegs ABOUND on this one since there was only one version printed. It's like the Little Mermaid- almost impossible to find a legit copy. And even if you do, you probably paid way to much for a shoddy version anyway.

Hold out for the rerelease and buy a different Disney DVD if this is for an xmas present

I agree with what the others have said, wait until it is rereleased in the stores. I bought toy story , toy story 2 and jungle book from a seller on half.com and they were all bootlegs. I kept them because he offered to refund only 75% of my purchase price and I had to pay to ship them back. He called the 25% a restocking fee. My daughter loves the movie and the nice thing about the bootleg is that it loops back into the movie when it ends, so if she leaves it on and falls asleep it won't burn into the screen. I called Disney and gave them his information and emailed photos of the movies to the "movie fraud dept." Not sure if they did anything about it or not but I did my part. I have since put Toy Story at my mom's and bought the rerelease. Just be aware of copies, they are everywhere on ebay and half.com. I buy from www.musicrecyclery.com they sometimes get Disney movies in stock, they are local to me, but they do ship. ~Mandy
