First of all I'd like to inform everyone my first trip home has had to be rescheduled. We were planning on going in the middle of June but last night when I put in my request another charge nurse will be out of town for a wedding then so I was FORCED ;) to move my trip up.
We will try to get into SSR June 6- June 17. We are in building 1j so hopefully we'll be able to book for June, that previous post made me nervous. Hopefully we'll run into mommy'stieg and liferbabe while there!
Now that I'm knee deep in planning with my printouts and folders I realize how clueless I really am. To help with my PS plans could someone please tell me which parks the resorts are closest too? Also is it feasible to stop in the middle of the day leave the park to head to beaches and cream (for Ex.) or does that take up too much time out of your park day?
Also with 12 days with DD8 and DS4(who is FULL of energy) how many days would you allot to the different parks?
Thanks for any help you can give and could I please have some pixie dust that this newcomer won't screw this up too bad!!

You can easily do this when you are EPCOT, especially from World Showcase. Just go out the International Gateway Entrance/Exit and walk about five minutes and you are right at the Beach Club. Turn left to head to the Boardwalk and places like the ESPN Club. It takes a little bit of time but if you are in the area, you will be in good shape.

Not sure what you mean? Do you mean SSR or all of the DVC resorts?

ok, ok (cracking knuckles) let's see......

Youre going when the parks should be open the long hours and with 12 days, theres plenty of time to do and see everything, even if you leave the parks for long stretches. OUr first trip was in August for 10 days. Nearly everyday we went back to OKW for lunch and nap time. This is especially advantagious if tempers start to flare... Time-out City.

on your MK day, Id reccommend breakfast at Wispering Canyon @WL, then hopping the boat to MK. Also hopping the boat the FW and the Hoop Dee Doo for dinner. The CR, GF and Poly are all monorail resorts and easy hops to and from the MK.

We usually do a late breakfast at BC or BW and walk voer to the WS when it opens and do that and head to the front of Epcot late.

Dinner at the AKL is great after your AK day.

Its also a good idea to make your resort PS's for late in your trip. Make your park PS's for the early days on your trip, when youre sure your going to be in those parks. Save your resort ps's for later days, then you wont feel as committed to specific parks. you can easily (if not quickly) get from any resort to any park. So you can decide once your there which parks you want to repeat later in your stay.

With kids those ages I'd say two full days at MK, one at AK, one at MGM, and maybe a day and a half for Epcot. Epcot didn't sit well with mine thsi last trip so we ened up spending pool time instead.
I suggest Sc-Fi, food is OK, but my kids love thsi place.
Good luck with the planning!

EDIT - Yikes, I just realized you're going to be there for 12 days. That changes things! You should ahev plenty of time to do everything you wnat in the parks and really break thsoe days up to make for a great relaxed vacation! You shoudl ahve a wonderful time. We went for 8 days last July and went back to our room almost everything to go swimming. It was very nice.

With 12 days you should be able to cover quite a bit. Don't forget to get your kids in on the planning also. This may help you determine how many days at which parks.

I always plan ps's to be in the park we are visiting or close by to eliminate hassle and a waste of too much off time. For instance this year we were at BWV and walked to Cape May for breakfast and then walked into Epcot for the day. We also routinely do Chef Mickey's on a day we have MK planned.

Have fun planning!

We also always plan a PS character breakfast for the morning we are heading out. It si a nice way to get soem last mintute pics with the characters and a good stuff to the belly before that drive back. It always ends our trip on a happy note! (Chef Mickey's is great!)

***SSR and OKW are close by car to Epcot
***Beach Club, Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin walk to Epcot
***Boardwalk can walk or boat to MGM
***CR/Poly/GF close to Magic Kingdom
***Animal Kingdom Lodge close to Animal Kingdom

Also is it feasible to stop in the middle of the day leave the park to head to beaches and cream (for Ex.) or does that take up too much time out of your park day?

***Totally feasible and advised since you have so much time there!!!

Also with 12 days with DD8 and DS4(who is FULL of energy) how many days would you allot to the different parks?

*** 3MK, 2 Epcot, 1-2 AK, 1-2 MGM, 1-2 Waterparks (8-11 days) - do some pool days if you want to or maybe an offsite day to Sea World?

Pixie Dust for you!

Thanks for the great advice! I've gotten some on a different board that suggested only 1 -2 character meals per trip with small kids. Is that what ya'll think? I just figure if you're going to spend that kind of money on a PS for a meal that is non counter service it might as well be a character meal...
Also does anyone know will there be boat rentals at SSR? If so what type, paddleboats?

we havent overloaded on characture meals, but we have definately gone overboard on Buffets.

Also do a waterpark early in your trip, you may find you want to go back once or twice. weve done whole trips around water parks.

With 12 days, I assume you will be doing APs. I would suggest you visit parks in increments. Do a park early in the day and spend some down time at the resort. We usually try to get one of the first buses out for the day to our chosen morning park, and then head back to the resort early afternoon. We head back to the parks later in the day, and often do Epcot at that time, since it is open later (we usually travel off season). By going to a different park in the afternoon from the morning park, keeps youngsters interested.

Our kids LOVED Epcot at those ages. Especailly DS when he was about 7-8. The 4 yo might be a bit young for Epcot.

By varying your parks and seeing different ones in a given day, everyone seems to be more satisfied. We often will hit all 4 parks in a single day. Sometimes we will start out at MK, have lunch/dinner at an Epcot restaurant and then head "home" to rest before heading out to yet another park, maybe just to see a specific show. Some think all the moving around is silly, but it keeps everyone interested, and with 12 days, you have plenty of time for everything. Our last 12 day trip, we actually ran out of things to do!

A lot of the jumping around is to avoid crowds at certain attractions. Then we can hit the less crowded attractions at a different park later in the day.

Definitely getting PAP's! I had planned on going back to SSR to rest but hadn't thought of heading out to a different park. Thanks for the thoughts on that.
